Wifi wont connect. finds connection but says it cant connect when attempted

If the problem is with the PC
  • reset wifi switch
  • If that doesn't fix the problem, reboot.
  • That didn't fix it, either? Okay, time to make sure you're connecting to the right network and using the right password. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the notification area for a list of available networks. Yours should be there, and it should say "Connected," but it probably won't.
  • Attempt to connect to the network, and make sure you have the right password. When typing the password, be careful about letters and numbers that look alike. It's easy to mistake the number 1 with a lowercase L or an uppercase I . And an uppercase O can be mistaken for the number 0.
A few other things you might try:
  • Look at the bars next to the network's name to make sure you have a strong signal from the router. If you don't, try moving to a room near the router.
  • Use Windows' diagnostics. Right-click the network icon in notification area and select Troubleshoot problems. Then go through the wizard.
  • Turn off your firewall-temporarily, of course-and try again. If it works, figure out what's wrong with your firewall settings.
If the problem is with the network Try rebooting the network. Unplug the modem and router, wait a minute, plug them back in, wait two minutes, and try again.
If that doesn't help, try connecting the laptop to the router via an ethernet cable. That will tell you if the problem is with the router's Wi-Fi. If it is, go into your router's settings (if you don't know how, check its documentation) and change the Wi-Fi channel.

Wi-FI connection?? I have aBblackberry Playbook and I cannot connect to my internet and it is asking me fopr my SSID number where can I find it

SSID is the name of your Wi-Fi connection (aka "Home", "Linksys", etc...). The Playbook should display a list of Wi-Fi names you can choose from.

Informed WEP key is a 10 digit number. could 231408&sid nos. & characters be my WEP key?

A WEP key is a security code used on some Wi-Fi networks.A WEP key is a sequence of hexadecimal digits. These digits include the numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F.

The length of a WEP key depends on the type of WEP security (called "encryption") utilized:
  • 40- / 64-bit WEP: 10 digit key
  • 104- / 128-bit WEP: 26 digit key
  • 256-bit WEP: 58 digit key
WEP keys are chosen by a network administrator, it would have been provided by the Internet Service providers, Hence it can't be as what you stated.

Most desktop computers are hard wired and not wireless, so the answer is no. Unless you buy yourself a wi-fi USB dongle.

How do i connect to mcdonolds free wifi? what do i need?

To access the Wi-Fi services in a restaurant, you need a Wi-Fi enabled device, such as a laptop or PDA. If you are unsure whether your laptop or PDA is Wi-Fi enabled, click here to determine what hardware is required.

Our local service providers provide high-quality Wi-Fi service through several convenient connection options: on-line credit card payment, subscriptions, prepaid cards, or (sometimes) promotional coupons. If you have questions or need technical help, the Wi-Fi provider's customer support number should be handy in the restaurant.

Please note that currently there are no roaming capabilities between different countries, neither for customers nor McDonald's employees. You will have to connect separately with the respective Wi-Fi service provider.

Enjoy surfing and working in your local McDonald's!

I have set up a home network using the Linksys wireless G router. I have networked one laptop to the network with no problem. A second laptop I am trying to connect just will not work. I need help,...

hi dear

try this way....

  1. Before you attempt to use any Wi-Fi network, find out what the SSID, Channel, Mode and WEP key are. Some Wi-Fi locations do not require a WEP key. Many Wi-Fi providers have this information on their web site or when you purchase access you will be provided the information.
  2. Ensure you have a firewall program installed and running. This will protect your data.
  3. Start up your laptop and once booted, look for the Wi-Fi network icon in the bottom right of the screen.
  4. Click on the Wifi Connection icon on bottom right of screen and you should see a window that indicates connection, strength and duration. Click on the Properties tab.

  5. wirelessnetworkscreenbl.jpg

  6. The next window will show the type of networking card installed. Click on the Wireless Networks tab.

  7. 02ee437.jpg

  8. Once the Wireless Network Connection Properties window is open you will have two options depending on how you set up your laptop.
    • If you do not see any networks listed in Preferred or Available networks, you will have to manually add the SSID. Click on Add. You will have to enter the SSID and WEP key (if required). Click OK and you should then see the network you just added in the Available networks box.

    • 4d25eb5.jpg

    • If you see the correct SSID showing in the Available Networks, then you need to click on Configure in order to enter the WEP key if that is required.

  9. In the next window, enter the SSID for the Wi-Fi network you want to access. Make sure you do not have CAPS lock or NUM lock while entering the information. If a network key is required, click on "Data Encryption and then enter the Network key you have been provided with. Again make sure you do not have CAPS or NUM lock on. Click OK when entered. If you have entered the key incorrectly a message will pop up and you will need to re-enter the key.

  10. fccfda9.jpg

  11. Next go to Start - and where it says Connect To click on that and you should see choices like in the graphic below. Click on Wireless Network Connection and it should work.

There are occasions when the connection doesn't work, in these cases check your firewall software and make sure it allows you to connect to the Wi-Fi network. To check this, disable your firewall software and check the connection again. If you can connect with the firewall program disabled, you change your settings. If your firewall program is not the problem check the SSID and WEP key information that you entered. Both of these are case sensitive. If you had obtained SSID information from the Internet, check with someone in the establishment to see if the SSID has been changed.

oke post in me back

i hope this usefull for you

thanks
