If you have just installed a peripheral try removing it and see if the problem continues. If you have not just installed hardware, it may be the ram is corrupt, if there are multiple sticks of ram, try removing them, and try them one at a time until the problem is gone, or repeats, then you know the bad stick of ram.
If the BSOD (blue screen of death) happens for every stick of ram, it may be something else, like the hard drive. But it sounds like a USB device or two devices conflicting.

<p>Blue screen errors, or blue screen of death (BSOD) errors, are the most severe errors Windows can encounter. Since Windows can not recover from this kernel level error, a blue screen is displayed with the error details. The error details contain a STOP error code, which indicates the type of error.<br /> <p>There are a lot of possible causes for blue screen errors, but most of them relate to the computer hardware. The cause of a BSOD error can be a temperature problem, a timing error, a resource conflict, hardware failure, a corrupt registry, a virus or simply a device incompatibility or driver error.<br /> <p><b>How to analyze blue screen errors</b><br /> <p>The first thing to do to analyze a blue screen error is to check the meaning of the STOP error code. You need to stop Windows from rebooting when a STOP error is encountered. Once the blue screen of death is shown, you can check the meaning of the STOP error code. Together with the filename of the driver or module, this will give an indication of the error cause.<br /> <p>Another option to analyze the cause of the blue screen error is to look at the Windows system event log or to debug the memory dump (minidump) that Windows created when the error occurred. The event log can be viewed using the event viewer. Right-click Computer in the Start menu, and then select Manage. In the Computer Management window select Event Viewer. The information in the event log can be of great help to isolate the cause of the blue screen error.<br /> <p>Reading the minidump requires a bit more technical knowledge, but Microsoft has tools to read the minidump.<br /> <p><b>The most common cause of blue screen errors</b><br /> <p>In reality, the most common cause of blue screen errors is a device driver problem. Outdated, incorrect or corrupt drivers can cause the system to encounter a STOP error, resulting in the BSOD.<br /> <p>So the easiest way to try and fix a blue screen error is to reinstall and update your system's device drivers. This will ensure that all driver bugs are fixed and that all hardware has the correct driver.<br /> <p>If you know which device caused the error, you can update or reinstall that driver first. The file name in the blue screen of death can help identify the driver. Look for a file with the .SYS extension and search for that file name.<br /> <p>If you do not have the drivers for all devices, or are not comfortable updating your PC's drivers manually, you can use a driver update tool to find, download and update all device drivers for you. Such tools will accurately identify your computer hardware, including any device causing an error, and automatically install the latest drivers for it.<br /> <p>In most cases updating or reinstalling drivers will solve your blue screen errors.<br /> <p><b>Other causes of blue screen errors</b><br /> <p>However, if updating device drivers does not fix the blue screen error, there are a number of additional things to try:<br /> <p>Load the default BIOS values - resource conflicts and timing issues can be caused by incorrect BIOS settings.<br /> <p>Update the BIOS - especially after adding new hardware or installing a Windows service pack this can help fix issues.<br /> <p>Update Windows - missing updates, including service packs can be a source of stop errors.<br /> <p>Check your system - run a virus scan and spyware scan after updating your definition files.<br /> <p>Driver rollback - if you have recently updated a driver, you can use the driver rollback to revert back to the previous driver version.<br />

Ialmrnt5 display driver not working properly


You might need to reinstall the Intel display driver. Try updating to the latest version, and use a driver finder program if you do not have the right driver for it.

My Dell Dimension 4600 is now showing the nv4_disp blue screen error saying the driver is in an infinite loop. It began with an intermittent black screen, then decay of the video. Now if I start it in...


Is certainly worth trying another keyboard they dont cost much nowdays but with all those problems i would format the PC and fresh install windows making sure you get all the correct drivers from the Dell website. Hope it works

Endless chkdsk /r loop


Sounds like you have a seriously corrupt hard drive. I am afraid the only way to fix this is to replace the hard drive.

OS won't start on Sony VGC-RB60G


To resolve this problem, start your computer in Safe mode, remove the display adapter, rename the .inf files that are associated with the display adapter drivers, restart your computer in Normal mode, and then update your display adapter drivers. The following steps describe this procedure in more detail:
  1. Start Windows in Safe mode. To do so:
    1. Restart the computer, and then press F8 while the computer starts.
    2. On the Windows Advanced Options Menu that appears, use the ARROW keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
    3. Use the ARROW keys to select the operating system to start, and then press ENTER to start Windows XP in Safe mode.
  2. In the message that states that Windows is running in Safe mode, click Yes.
  3. Click Start, click Run, type msinfo32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
  4. Under System Summary, expand Components, and then click Display.
  5. In the right pane, note the information that corresponds to the INF File item, for example, Nv4.inf, Oem0.inf, or Atim128.inf.
  6. Quit the System Information utility.
  7. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

Ialmrnt5 video driver error


When you first boot up the computer press F5 continously until a boot menu shows up. Then choose "start windows in low-res mode". This option will start windows in the lowest resoloution and hopefully it will boot up and you can change the resoloution. If this does not work you can retry the "safe-mode" selection. If that does not work you may have a problem with the on-board video or video card.

what you are describing is the blue screen of death, meaning theres a hardware or software problem, try to boot into safe mode and perform a system restore, if that doesn't work use your XP cd, let it load the drivers and the ask it to fix the existing XP installation, anything that you have saved in my documents should be safe and the problem should be solved. If the blue screen reappears then you have a hardware problem
