SOURCE: Cannot Re-install Windows from Recovery DVD's ACER 5610-4179
Hello,
Your recovery disks must be scratched or files are corrupted. Since you have successfully installed XP Pro, why not stay with it as it's better than Home?
If you have a restoration partition on your C drive, you may be able to revert to your original configuration from it. And if you insist on XP Home or only have a valid product key for home, you can borrow a disk from anyone who has a good copy.
I hope this helps.
SOURCE: I can't to install Windows vista 64 bit within a 32 bit
WELL if you are trying to INSTALL windows 64bit, it's pretty simple.
You may or may not be required to format your hard drive for this, so be wary, BACKUP all your information that you want to keep onto dvds or another harddrive before doing this.
Ok with that warning out of the way, the simplest way to do this is to simply either take out your hard drive and format it using another computer, or doing it on your computer by selecting my computer, right clicking on your C: and pressing format, and selecting quick format, and letting her rip.
Now, ALL your data will be gone, because you are installing a new operating system. If you do not want to install just vista 64 (if you want to keep your old OS) then do not bother formating and just skip to this step.
You want to load the DVD into the drive and reboot the computer.
Now you should be able to press a button F-something (like F2, F8 or F12) to allow you to choose what to boot from (you may have to go into the BIOS and tell it to boot from the DVD drive first, before the harddrive, which won't hurt your computer at all). Just simply select your dvd drive and windows vista should boot properly. If you don't see a startup screen right away, just try typing setup or windows and pressing enter. Follow the on-screen instruction, and you will have a brand new operating system, which is running on 64bits.
BE SURE that your computer has a processor that is 64 bits before doing this, otherwise it will not work. Any software you use on vista 64 bit needs to be in 64 bit, just like how any software written for 32bit needs to be used on a 32 bit operating system. You can't usually install an Operating system...within an operating system, well, I've never done it personally.
Hope this helps, stay spicy and happy lappying! :)
