My bbq has the Flav-R-wave. Do I still use briquets? On the internet it says in place of briquets but in the owners manual it still talks about using briquets. Where do I place them if I'm supose to use them? Thankyou, Teresa Heinemann [email protected]

Use one or the other. but not both. The Flav-R-Wave replaces the Briquets.

To smoke peppers do i use the water tray with chips or put the chips on the briquets?

Soak the hardwood chips in water and place in the metal tray. Place the tray on the briquets. The result is smoke without fire and longer lasting wood chips. Happy grilling.

Do you need to use briquets if you have a flav-r-wave

No, none what-so-ever. With the Flav-r-wave, there's no place to put/hold the ceramic briquets.

I can't get the temperature high enough to go beyon warm, no matter how many briquets I place in the bottom pan.

Most of the time, it's not how much charcoal you use, it's how and where you place the charcoal pan for grilling and searing, as opposed to smoking food. The higher the charcoal pan in the grill, the more air it gets and the charcoal gets hotter. To illustrate this I have included a link to your Owners Manual (in case you have misplaced yours), to you can download and print for future reference. Pay particular attention to page # 9 - Grilling and Searing.

I would add to what your Owners Manual says about what type of charcoal to use, by suggesting that you use all natuarl lump charcoal, instead of briquette type charcoal. It the all natural lump charcoal is easier to light, without starter fluid. Plus, it burns cleaner and hotter than briquette type charcoal.

This should help you solve the issue you're having Happy Grilling!!

Fishy odor

Make sure you wash the refrigerator and freezer with a baking soda and water solution.
Then, place a few charcoal briquets in the fridge and freezer areas.
The charcoal will absorb odors. It works wonders.
In one month, you can remove the briquets and scrape the outer layer off to renew the usefulness of the charcoal.
