My bbq has the Flav-R-wave. Do I still use briquets? On the internet it says in place of briquets but in the owners manual it still talks about using briquets. Where do I place them if I'm supose to use them? Thankyou, Teresa Heinemann dtmm@telus.net

Use one or the other. but not both. The Flav-R-Wave replaces the Briquets.

To smoke peppers do i use the water tray with chips or put the chips on the briquets?

Soak the hardwood chips in water and place in the metal tray. Place the tray on the briquets. The result is smoke without fire and longer lasting wood chips. Happy grilling.

Can we use lava rocks instead of charcoal !

In as much as this smoker uses an electrical element to ignite the charcoal, using lava rock instead would not be an option. As, lava rock doesn't ignite, nor burn. However, if you are dissatisfied with using regular charcoal briquets, switch to all natural lump charcoal. It ignites faster and creates a better smokey flavor than factory made briquets.

Hope this helps you.

Do you need to use briquets if you have a flav-r-wave

No, none what-so-ever. With the Flav-r-wave, there's no place to put/hold the ceramic briquets.

Happy Grilling!!

I can't get the temperature high enough to go beyon warm, no matter how many briquets I place in the bottom pan.

Most of the time, it's not how much charcoal you use, it's how and where you place the charcoal pan for grilling and searing, as opposed to smoking food. The higher the charcoal pan in the grill, the more air it gets and the charcoal gets hotter. To illustrate this I have included a link to your Owners Manual (in case you have misplaced yours), to you can download and print for future reference. Pay particular attention to page # 9 - Grilling and Searing.

I would add to what your Owners Manual says about what type of charcoal to use, by suggesting that you use all natuarl lump charcoal, instead of briquette type charcoal. It the all natural lump charcoal is easier to light, without starter fluid. Plus, it burns cleaner and hotter than briquette type charcoal.

This should help you solve the issue you're having Happy Grilling!!

I need the plate that goes over the briquet for model # GB C621 A-M Grand gourmet grill?

Karla, what type (brand) grill do you have? The Model Number (GB C621 A-M ) is not a Brinkmann model number. Nor, do any of their grills use briquets.

Please advise. Thanks.

How do I use hickory chips or similar in my BBQ 120

You will likely need to soak your wood chips for about a hour or so (trial and error based upon your cooking temperatures), make a pouch from a sheet of aluminum foil and make a "pillow" filled with the chips. create a couple slits on the upper side and place below your main cooking rack. You will likely see it begin to puff a short bit later. May also look into a smoker box, available on the market currently. Be sure to review the cautions and suggestions of your owners manual.

Converting to gas

If it does not get hot enough when using natural gas then the small propane orfices must be sized larger for the equivalent BTU rating of propane. Conversion tables are online via Google
