Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I just recently bought a Samsung 245BW monitor and am having problems getting the right setting. It looks OK, but I know it could look a lot better. I tried playing with different resolutions, contrast and brightness, but haven't found the right combination. I know it should be set to 1900 x 1200, but everything is way too small. Help! Thanks

1. Right-click on the Desktop.

2. Choose "Properties" from the Shortcut menu that appears.

3. Click on the Settings tab at the top of the Display Properties window.

4. Under Settings is a list or a scroll bar (depending on your Windows version) containing available screen resolutions. Click on or use the slider to select the resolution you want.

Lower resolutions will display larger letters and icons, while higher resolutions display smaller letters and icons on your desktop.

5. Click "Apply", then "OK".

6. You'll have fifteen seconds to decide if the new screen resolution looks good or not. If you like the way the screen looks, click "Yes"; otherwise, click "No" and go back to step 4 for a different resolution. (If you can't see the screen at all, Windows will automatically revert to your original settings after fifteen seconds.)

7. Click "OK".

Your motherboard does not have much graphics to support the full resolution of LCD Monitor. If you want full resolution then you have to purchase Graphics card for it.

Hello, the integrated video card in the Compaq s3310cl doesn't have a DVI port, however you may purchase and DVI to VGA adapter which should allow you to hook up that Samsung 2243swx Monitor. Be aware there are various types of DVI connectors so match up the connector you require for you Samsung Monitor.

DVI cable not working

If you still have your old monitor plug it back in for a bit and load the drivers for the new monitor (from the disk which came with the new monitor). Right click on your desktop and choose properties and set your display resolution to something like 1024 x 768. Shut down the pc and connect your new monitor to it with the dvi adapter. If it is recognised ok you can then set the resolution from 1024 x 768 to the recommended amount for your new screen. The refresh rate is also important as some lcd screens only work at a certain level. There should be an auto switch on the monitor and if you press this it sets the display to optimum, - or should do.

No sound in sm2232bw monitor

CURSE YOU SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm done now. Some monitors require a separate power supply for their speakers. I don't know if yours would have one, so you'll have to check. Also, are you sure that you have it connected properly? It you do, are you sure that the monitor has built-in speakers? Once you have checked these things, get back to me.
