Software and drivers for your NX6115 are available directly from HP's support website. Click on this link and then choose your Operating System. That should take you to the page for your drivers and other software. If you have any further questions, let me know.

I have Compaq nx6115 too and faced the same problem. I tried all sorts of stuff following useless guides. This works on for me:
Download drivers from Broadcom (link below) and manually install it from your Windows XP Device Manager.
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/4401.php
Select your Windows version correctly (e.g. Windows XP 32bit)
