Question about Protron PLTV-32 Television

1 Answer

Sound This is also a product from shopnbc, it worked fine about a year and then I noticed certain stations having no sound. One station has a 15 delay between picture and sound. But the craziest part is when the Simpson's come on and when TNT is broadcasting a game the sound is always in Spanish. Now NBC is fading out. Cust. Ser was a big no help, they told me to take it to a authorized dealer but did not have a authorized dealer to send me to. After reading about all the other problems I am not encourgaged at all. If anyone can help please email me at: geobro7@msn.com. Geo.

I can suggest you to bring this to any TV repair center near you because I believe they repair any brands like in my place sicen this unit of yours is just a generic type of a television set and ShopNBC only has a limited 1 year warranty for this and this one really has alot of problem and complaints from other user...

Good luck.....

One Station only no sound but great picture. The additional digital channels with that station work fine.

Some of the channels have moved. So your TV might be picking them up differently. You need to do a Full Factory Reset tuning rather than just a rescan.

Rescan simply looks at the place holders where the old channels were stored and refreshes them. A Factory Reset (A.K.A. Shipping Condition) wipes the channel memories and starts again fresh.

ARE MY FUSES BLOWN IF MY TV CUTS OF EVERY 10-15 MINUTES AFTER BEING HOOKED UP TO A PLAYSTATION

Fuses either work or do not work like a light bulb. Problems lies within the tv set. There could be a bad solder joint on a board that acts up when a certain internal temperature is reached OR there could be a bad capacitor in the power supply that after a certain period of operation stops working properly and the set shuts down.

If the set works fine when used as a regular tv, then the problems lies within the play station circuits.

TV is working beautifully then the screen goes dark for 3-15 seconds and then the image reappears in beautiful HD. The TV is two years old and otherwise works perfectly

Technology changes at a high rate of speed, as we all know. And High Definition (HD) has come a long way in a very short period. Since your television still works perfectly otherwise, I don't think that it's a problem with the set itself. It may only be a victim of technology.

Does this only happen with High Def channels? Does it happen every time you change to another HD channel? If you answer 'yes' to either of these, it is most likely due to the television's processing capabilities. Because of the high amount of data that is required to deliver HD content, manufacturers have found creative (but not necessarily convenient) ways of dealing with the processing issues (blank screen delay for example). Since the audio and video signals for any given television station (either HD or regular) are transmitted separately, the television has to process that data internally so that you get the picture and sound aligned properly when you are watching it. HD broadcasts are much more demanding than regular stations requiring manufacturers to constantly improve this processing speed with every new model. On some televisions, the channel remains blank for a few seconds to allow the television to configure all of the information so it looks good when it's ready, which could explain the delay you are describing. At the time your television was manufactured, this may have been the best technology your manufacturer had to offer. On my personal flat panel, I get the picture and sound right away, but I have to wait about 15 seconds for the sound to catch up to the picture which I think is more annoying than being forced to look at a blank screen. But that's just me.

Hope this information was helpful.

My 32" Toshiba LCD HDTV keeps freezing on the same channel and when I try to change the channel or input selection, it doesn't respond(to the remote or directly on the TV.) The only thing that works is...

These problems are normally caused by the TV station.

1. Call the TV station responsible and ask for the network engineer.
2. Tell him the Day, Time, Channel, Program, basically every little detail about the problem.
3. The station will normally check it and fix it.

Also, contact Toshiba and tell them. Really this is part of the DTV Transition thing. Many stations are reconfiguring and settin up equipment. They sometimes make mistakes. Don't worry much about it unless it continues for more than a week. If you like the station, I would call right away.

Can't get analog stations

Good Day, Jamievass;
Please disconnect the NEW DVD Player, does analog stations come back? What input are you using; RF, Comp, hdmi? If ok try using another input or you may need a main bord that processes the signal.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
