Are you sure you are plugged into the speaker output on your computer? Of not try the other outputs, and also make sure the volume is turned up and not muted on your computer, check by double clicking on the speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen or by going to the sound applet in Control Panel.

Have you tried these speakers on another computer or with a CD player or MP3 player? If they don't work with another device either than you know there is a problem with your speakers.

Also make sure that the speakers are plugged into a power source if they require it, most likely they do.

Sound card problem

* It seems either the sound driver has become corrupt or you have mistakenly installed any other sound driver!

Try these steps :

1. Goto Start -> Control Panel.

2. Sounds -> Playback.

3. You will see 'Speakers' in the list of devices.

4. Is there any 'Tick Mark' symbol and 'Working' message ?

5. If Yes, then the sound driver is OK. Check the other settings like, Levels, Enhancements, And Advanced options by selecting the 'Speaker Properties'.

6. After configuring, apply settings and close the window.

7. Restart your system and now check sound!

8. If the above don't works, reinstall your sound driver!

9. Try to check your speakers on another PC!

10. If speakers not working, then problem is in speakers not the driver!

please rate me if it helps...tc! :)

Dimension 4700 my headphones work fine but i cant

Are you have the headphones and speakers both pluged in? When you plug in headphones the speakers get muted. You need to change your sound settings back to your sound card if you use usb headphones. The plug on the front of the 4700 also automatically mutes the speakers.

No response from sub woofer - when i turn the dial nothing happens - all sound other than that seems to be working ok

check the wiring of the speaker set and also check if there is cut of the wires. Check also the connections between the computer and the speaker set. If problem persist then try the speaker into a mp3 player or an ipod, if it does not sound still then probably your sub woofer has hardware problem.

External speakers don't work but internal speaker works fine.

Try your speakers on another system to make sure speakers are working.

Make sure volume control on PC is not set on mute.

Make sure onboard sound is enabled in BIOS

Try re-installing the sound card driver.

If all this fails and you have a spare slot on your PC just purchase a new sound card for about $10.00 or so.

No sound

Check the easiest things first, sometimes we overlook the easiest and assume the hardest things first.
Did you plug the speakers back into the right port? It is the pastel green port. Is there a volume control on the speakers? Check that too. Any problems let me know. Tell me how you made out, and please rate my answer.

My cumputer's sound isn't working

Hi Kelseystortz,

Please follow the steps to fix your sound issue.

Step 1:

Check whether your speaker is connected to the green port at the back of the computer.

Step 2:

1. Click Start >> Run >> type devmgmt.ms and click okay.
2 You will get the device manager screen.
3. Click the (+) sign next to the Sound, Video and Game Controller.
4. Right - click on the listed AC'97 or Realtek and select uninstall.
5. Then Right - click on the top computer icon and choose "scan for hardware changes" or reboot the PC.
6. Sound should work now.

Step 3:

If the above steps does not work try this

1. Click Start , Run , and enter services.msc into the Open field.
2. Scroll down the list of services and find Windows Audio.
3. Right-click Windows Audio and select Properties
4. Select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown list, and click Start to start the audio service.
5. Click OK and test for sound.

Step 4:

This is the final step you need to try the system restore

Thanks & Regards
Rajesh
