If your unit is not registering on the Garmin website, then the unit is probably already registered. If its already registered, the Garmin website won't recognize it. If you bought it used, you need to call the person who you bought the unit from and tell them to delete their registration so that you can re-register under your name. If you bought it new, call Garmin customer service at 1-800-800-1012 and have them clear the registration. They will require proof of purchase. New Units sometimes get purchased registered and then returned. Some places will place the merchandise back on the shelf after verifying everything is still there.
this case, you might need to contact the reseller directly.Phone numbers
are usually located in the invoice you received. Never open the item nor put any markings on its box. This will let resellers
charge you a restocking fee which costs around 10-20%.Resellers usually allow 30 days to return their merchandise. Do not refuse the package as it might just get lost. As soon as you received it, contact the reseller right away to verify where you can return it.
You should ask the person from whom you purchased the unit the PIN or the Security Location (the location at which the PIN was entered). Your only other option for unlocking the unit would be to send it back to Garmin, but they will likely not unlock it and/or not return it to you without proof of purchase.
No one forgets their secure location, we have heard all these stories before and are fully aware of this type of request. This security is designed to stop stolen GPS being activated by those who dont own them
the GPS feature on the cell phones are set by default for 911 ONLY, unless you changed the settings to LOCATION ON, the GPS feature can only be used if someone calls 911 from the phone. Have you tried calling your cell phone number to see if someone answers? Hopefully someone found it and will send it back to you. Also if you use your phones online service, you should be able to check and see if any calls have been made on the cell phone since the time you lost it. If so, call some of the numbers and do a little investigating.
Your phone does not have a GPS transmitter, only a receiver, so you can't send a signal to be tracked via satellite. If you report the IMEI, the international mobile equipment identification number, to your carrier as lost or stolen then the phone can not be used when it is blocked. They started doing this because of phone theft from US and European tourists. The only way to tell where your phone is does not give exact locations, just the service area based on your MIN, mobile identification number. As soon as you report it, that will stop as well. I wish I could be the bearer of good news. You may try calling some of your contacts to see if anybody is trying to return the phone to one of them. Also the lost and found on Craigs List is useful if the person wants to return it. Post it and offer a reward. It will be useless to them anyway and maybe you will get it back, Good luck to you.
By David707, Since posting ma last re: Screen Freezing on external charge; I did manage to get the system back to some normality by pressing the Reset button located underneath the GPS Antenna flap. However this is likely to delete personally stored data on the system. I should also state that the same problem occurs when I connect the 610 t my PC via the USB connection (another way to externally charge the battery). A more satisfactory answer required though.
