If your mobile phone
is lost or stolen you can inform your cell phone provider with your IMEI
number. Your cell phone provider can then put the serial number on a shared
database. This list stops this particular phone from registering on any network
and will be useless for anyone even if the mobile phone's SIM card
Your best bet is to ring your cell phone and hope the person who answers your
cell phone will return your phone to you.
If your cell phone is GPS enabled then it is possible to
track, but you need to contact your cell phone service provider.
Otherwise I suggest you contact your cell phone provider

the GPS feature on the cell phones are set by default for 911 ONLY, unless you changed the settings to LOCATION ON, the GPS feature can only be used if someone calls 911 from the phone. Have you tried calling your cell phone number to see if someone answers? Hopefully someone found it and will send it back to you. Also if you use your phones online service, you should be able to check and see if any calls have been made on the cell phone since the time you lost it. If so, call some of the numbers and do a little investigating.
Your phone does not have a GPS transmitter, only a receiver, so you can't send a signal to be tracked via satellite. If you report the IMEI, the international mobile equipment identification number, to your carrier as lost or stolen then the phone can not be used when it is blocked. They started doing this because of phone theft from US and European tourists. The only way to tell where your phone is does not give exact locations, just the service area based on your MIN, mobile identification number. As soon as you report it, that will stop as well. I wish I could be the bearer of good news. You may try calling some of your contacts to see if anybody is trying to return the phone to one of them. Also the lost and found on Craigs List is useful if the person wants to return it. Post it and offer a reward. It will be useless to them anyway and maybe you will get it back, Good luck to you.
Hi all I have a solution for fixing the internal GPS for the Nokia 5800. It will work as long as you leave the power on. If the phone is turned off you will have to repeat this very simple process. 1) Select Applications, and then open the application called, Location. 2) Select positioning. 3) Select positioning methods. 4) Tick Integrated GPS and Assisted GPS. 4) Select positioning server and Select automatic. Select access point and select. Then select gps data. Select options and select satellite status. When you have a satellite lock. Repeat 1), 2) 3) Then select Integrated GPS (ONLY), untick Assisted GPS. What you have basically done here is lock onto the satellites through GPRS (phones internet). Then disconnected from the internet and still get a lock on the satellites just by using Integrated GPS. Hope this helps someone and someone can take this concept to get a better understanding of what and why this is happening. Maybe some wizard can create a phone patch. Cheers to all, Colin Nelson, Kille, Scotland.
