You dont need to untension it, firstly place the belt on the small pulley on the motor then feed onto the main drum pulley gently turning it as you go, it may feel as though it wont go but it will as long as you have the right belt that is.
hope this helps

How do I fix error 3 on front load washer

I recently had an E3 code appear on my Samsung B1445V washing machine. It appeared after I started a Quick Wash, it would fill with water then stop - the E3 code would later appear. Prior to it breaking down, it was making loud creaking noises for several months beforehand so it wasn't a surprise when it gave up on me.

It turned out that the drive belt had worn out and snapped. The drive-belt connects the motor and the drum wheel (similar to a fan belt in a car). When it broke the flapping belt also cut through several wires of the electrical loom from the motor. Fortunately they were colour coded and I was able to repair these.

After much searching on the Internet, I found a new genuine Samsung 1270 J5 Drive Belt on eBay for £8.44. I had it shipped out by first class post and it arrived the next day.

Extra information: '1270' is the length of the belt in millimetres, I'm not sure what 'J5' means. You might also see these belts advertised as a 1270 Poly-V drive belt - this is also ok. It's called 'Poly-V' because the belt has 'v' shaped teeth on the inside which fit in the cog of the motor spindle so it doesn't slip off. I noticed a lot of these belts were interchangeable between different manufacturers - just make sure it's the correct length '1270mm' and has several 'v' shaped teeth on the inside.

After fitting the belt (very easy - took less than 5 mins and tutorials on YouTube if required), I manually span the drum several times to make sure the belt remained on. I then tried a Spin Cycle and it worked perfectly. I felt a bit smug after as I did consider buying a new washing machine...I saved myself £££'s by fixing it.

If you do try this yourself, here's a few pointers:

1) Drain the machine on 'Drain' cycle. Unplugged from the socket and remove all hoses at rear. With a bowl handy, at the bottom right front of the machine, twist and pull out the small drain hose and remove remaining water. Then twist and pull out the filter - more water may come out.

2) Carefully turn the washing machine upside down. On the bottom there is a white cardboard liner held on by 2 screws, remove these. The electric motor is now visible.

3) Visually inspect the motor spindle to make sure the old drive belt is not tangled around the spindle. Also check the electrical wires from the motor to make sure they're not damaged.

4) It's a confined space to work in so be careful not to scratch and cut yourself on sharp metal parts inside. Place the new belt over the motor spindle then half over the drum wheel. Rotate the drum wheel and the drive belt will slip on by itself. Once it is fully on, spin the drum several times by hand from the inside to make sure the belt remains attached.

5) Put the bottom cardboard line back, turn it upright then reattached the hoses etc. Plug it back in and run a 'Spin' cycle to test.

Good luck.

MAYTAG QUIET PLUS II DRYER IS SQUEAKING

It seems to me you need a new belt that go over and around the drum in witch you put the cloth first you have to go on line and find the rubber belt to replace it, may need make and modle or part number. you will have to take the top off first by removing the screws and then the front panel - the front panel has the electric on/off switch connected to it so be careful not to pull it apart. The rubber belt fits around the drum and then is attached to the pulley/drive motor. have a vacume handy to clean up the worn off pieces from the damage belt. Reattache the front panel and top of the dryer.

How do you fit belt around drum onto motor of tumble dryer the belt wont strech

The drum rides on two rubber rollers and felt strips on the front and back prevent the drum from rubbing against sheet metal. To replace the belt remove the front panel with the door attached so you can slip the belt around the drum. You may need to remove the top panel to access the screws to remove the front panel. It may be easier to lay the unit on its back if you have the space which I have done to make it easier to reassemble the unit and tighten the screws on the bottom. I would also check the two rubber rollers the drum rides on and make sure the center holes are not enlarged or have an oblong center. They should not have any play in the center, if they do save yourself some time and replace them when the unit is open. Once you have the belt around the drum you can assemble the front panel leaving the bottom panel off so you can put the belt around the tension rollers and the motor pulley.

The washer is making loud squealing noises. I took the front panel off to take a close look and notice the motor is able to be moved back and forth. Is this normal? I tried tightening the mounts and it...

Set the drive belt over the drum, loosen the motor slightly, because I think you are cross treading the belt. check the belt before fitting to see if there is any damage to the belt. With your hand put the belt on to the drum, back onto the motor, turn very slowly until the belt finds it's own parallel (the grooves line up), then tighten the motor exactly where it is in place. If there is NO damage to the belt, set the machine onto a fast spin, empty. That should tell you it's a belt problem. But you may have to spend 10 bucks on a new belt. Cheaper than a new machine. Hope all goes go well for you, let me know! Dave

Fitting a new drive belt to a hotpoint aquarius

Remove lower rear panel, tilt washer forward, getting someone to help, and fit belt round motor pulley, then fit belt round drum pulley, slowly turning the drum pulley round as you feed the belt on, it is very tight, and you might think the belt is to small, but this is normal, as the belt stretches, just persist, but be careful you do not trap your fingers. Good luck.
Please rate my solution.

WASHING MACHINE DRUM WILL NOT TURN

There is no adjustment provided for lining up the pulleys.
If it comes off then there are a couple of reasons that come to mind, the belt is too slack, the belt is worn, the drum is out of alignment with the motor pulley, caused by worn drum bearings, the motor is loose, a loose drum pulley, or you are not lining the belt up properly, overloading can also throw the belt off.
Hope this helps.
Plz leave feedback.

Cant get new drive belt to fit washing machine. right one but cant get it to stretch enough to fit from drum wheel to motor

this is a common problem as nowadays stretchy belts are used in order to avoid motor adjustment.
fitting requires some brute force. the way i do it is to put the belt on the motor pulley then start it as much as i can on the drum pulley. turn the drum pulley keeping force sideways to push the belt on and as you turn, the belt will go on

How to get back off to put belt on samsung b1445s washing machine

See if the motor has adjustment , ie a slotted fixing hole, slacken the fixing bolts slightly and motor may move up and down to give adjustment, put the belt on and then put some tension on the belt once fitted by moving the motor down and tightening the motor bolts at the same time.
Or if no adjustment put the belt on the motor spindle first and then the drum by turning the drum as the belt is eased onto it.
