This an indication that the hot water solenoid in the water inlet valve has failed. If you replace the valve, I bet your problems go away. The following link provides you with step-by-step instructions on how to replace one:

Please post back with your COMPLETE model number (located along the wash tub opening under the washer lid) if you require parts assistance. I can help you locate them online, or provide you with the a part number. I hope this helps you.

Washer water temperature is wrong

i would guess that if you actually have hot water at the faucet it is connected to, the the inlet hot water valve is defective in the washer. seems like a lowes exchange to me.

Since U get warm water that tells you that the cold and hot water solenoids are both operating. Ergo the anomaly has to be with the device that controls temperature.

I have a Whirlpool washer GHW9150PW0 and it always washes on hot water, no matter if I set the temperature on cold. I turned off the hot water faucet and still the wash comes out warm. What is the problem?

these washers sense the water temperature that comes in to them and automatically adjust the temperature by turning on the hot and cold valve on make sure both your water valves on the wall are on all the way and water is coming out of each

Yes, this is normal. All newer washer have auto temp control fills. This is to meet energy saving requirements. The less hot water used the more energy saved. Most hot settings on washers give out basically lukewarm water. The detergent made today is made to work well with cooler temperature water, so things will still come out clean.

No warm water coming out of the clotheswasher

Turn the cold water valve about half way closed or maybe more to allow enough hot water to mix with it and make it warm

Washer wont allow cold water

Mixing valve should lock out the hot water when on the cold water setting. Either your hoses are crossed, or the mixing valve is flipped. To see if one of these is true, try it on a hot water setting to see if cold water comes in, or try just swapping the water hoses.

Maytag washer/hot and cold water

Some whirlpool washers have had A similar problem. They had a intermittent water temperature switch issue. Sometimes they put hot water in when cold was selected. This is probably the same problem as yours. I would replace the water temp switch.

No Cold Water Wash; Only Hot

When doing a hot wash the machine is designed to take both hot and cold water. This is because it can heat the water to your selected temperature but if the water coming in is too hot it needs to cool it down to avoid heat damage to your laundry.
Hope this helps & thanks for using Fixya.

Maytag washer

It sounds like you have the hot and cold water lines to the washer reversed.  Try turning off the tap for the hot water then setting the washer to just cold wash and then  hot washif you get nothing on the cold and cold water when set to hot they are probably reversed.  Typically if the auto-temp control is broken you will only get hot or cold coming out on any setting.
