I have a Dell 2350 PC and none of the usb or other ports work except the monitor

Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly and have charge if applicable
usually located on the underside of the mouse there might be small plastic sticker with a phillips head screw under it rub your fingernail over the top to see if it has a screw
or make sure the usb device is properly inserted for wireless
the usb or Ps2 connection are secure with a dust free connection

or it might be the usb for wireless mouse or lead connecting to the usb port or even a faulty mouse
if this does not fix the problem
Restart you computer tap the f8 key repeatedly to enter safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you an attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen.
Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only
Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
select safe mode
click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to mice and other pointing devices you might see a yellow exclamation mark ! or question mark ? or a red x
right click you will need to update the driver
Click start control panel mouse you should see 4 tabs buttons pointers pointer options and hardware under hardware you have options to troubleshoot also you can select properties under driver you will have options to update driver rollback driver or uninstall also
I have found that the best way to adjust your mouse settings is to create a control panel in your bottom toolbar scroll to the bottom of your screen right click you will see an array of options select the toolbar option then select desktop
then you will see the desktop in the bottom toolbar select the 2 arrows >> then all control panel items then select mouse this is in WINDOWS 7
in XP you will have to select the new toolbar option once you have that a browse option select my computer then control panel then a control panel option will be in the bottom toolbar
Click start control panel keyboard hardware make sure you have the right keyboard selected
or you might have uninstall the keyboard then restart your computer then reinstall it and its drivers
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to keyboard you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click update driver

Extensive list of device driver links for common electronic devices

Hello,

What is a device driver and why do I always get recommendations to install updated drivers? Simply, a device driver is software that allows the device in question to communicate properly with the computer. If you buy a new printer or mouse and connect it to your computer, you may notice the device will not function properly. In my experience, the majority of technical issues with computing devices can be resolved by installing update drivers. Normally, device drivers come packed on a cd with your new equipment.

Below, you will find an extensive list of links for device drivers and support pages for common electronic devices.

So I reinstalled windows xp to my demnsion 5100 desktop. when the computer start the screen resolution is so big. I try to change the resolution to small but it will not save. it configures and then it...

After Reinstalling Window XP did you install the driver for your graphic adapter (VGA driver). If you'll not install the graphic driver it happen with the resolution, and about your mouse. you might be using USB mouse and it need to install driver too, but in case of your mouse window automatically takes the driver , you don't need to do anything.

I believe you might be canceling the installation of HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICE installation during the time of your window start up process.

About your Display, I hope you might have the proper driver installation CD.

All The BEST and hope i could help you.

I just bought a new computer and during games, when I move the mouse, sometimes it doesn't respond well, it will lag out, and move slowly at times. It's a new mouse and I even checked other ones but they...

1.Try cleaning the bottom of the mouse.

2.Is it a USB based mouse? Check the USB hub\devices to make sure the drivers are installed properly. Try using the mouse on different port.

3. Your mouse might be driver specific, so the default mouse drivers might not work with the one your using. If they are you'll need to download the ones they need.

Hope This Helps!!!  Please Don't Forget to Rate my Response!!! Thanks!!! yuva

Frozen mouse with a touch pad laptop computer

Check your drivers. Go into the device manager (start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager>human interface device) . If it shows a big yellow question mark, than it is a driver problem.

I would suggest that you either install or download the latest drivers for the mouse, and you can do this even without checking for a hardware conflict as stated above.

You can also access the control panel and trouble shoot your mouse through the mouse icon.

Even sometimes this may not work.....

I had an IBM brand optical mouse that continually plague me with problems until I gave it away with a computer that I built. The person who has it is still have occasionally issues with the mouse even with the proper drivers installed. I believe that it is a connection issue because sometimes the mouse will start working when you jiggle the male USB connection.
