Cb radio troubleshooting why is my cb flashing antenna warning when my car is running but not when it is turned off.

My guess would be that the slight increased voltage from the car running also increases the output power. Check your SWR with an external meter and make sure your antenna is properly tuned. If the light does not come on with the car off then you are probably right on the edge of the safe limits for SWR.

Ant light turn on whith lineal amplifier

Your antenna light alerts you of high S.W.R.

Say your S.W.R. is fine, maybe 1.5:1, and so the antenna light is not on when the amplifier is off.

1.5:1 means 4% reflected power. With just the radio this is less than 1/4 watt. However, turn on the amplifier and 4% is much more and the radio may think the S.W.R. is higher.

That's one option, which may not be a problem. Another possibility is the S.W.R. actually increases which could be from a amplifier which is not true 50 ohms and/or lack of grounding for the increased power level. amduke@mail.com Communications Solutions

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Have you tried VR5? Not much on the mods other than adjusting L8-10 for AM power.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Cobra 29 ltd classic

Hi there!

These repairs can be a little tricky to fix with out seeing the radio and the right equipment. Try replacing also D8 and or C123in between both diodes but first make sure on the other side of the trace side there are no burned out traces and they all look good. These traces can have a very small crack that you cant see with the naked eye so use a good magnified glass. Also is is there any lights on at all on the radio when you plug it in?? Because some times TR23 will go out and the radio wont come on but there will still be a meter light or green RX light!! Hope this helps a little let us know if you have other questions!!

Static

Hi,

CB radios use a frequency range and technology that is prone to noises both atmospheric, and man made. The height and gain of your new base antenna may produce more static than you may have noticed before. The question is 1) is the antenna close to any power lines to your home, 2) do you notice any increase or decrease of received signals compared to your mobile, 3) is the static steady or does it come and go.

Problems

Hi searspc,

sounds like a power problem. Have you checked the inline fuses - maybe one of them is blown. How about the power lead have you checked to make sure there is power there for the unit. Easiest way to test the power is to go to K-Mart or Walmart and buy a 12volt Tester from the Car Section. There are a couple of different ones in Australia. The one with that is black in color with a wire out the back and a spike I have found to be very good and it gives a few different voltages. Hope this helps.

Car Radio

The FixYa site is all supported by volunteers answering the questions.

We are paid for the more technical problems, or people who want Immediate answers.

It sounds like the Stereo may have been wired to the car incorrectly.

If you have the model number, you can find the Users Manual on Pioneerelectrnics.com to check the wiring connections.

Best of Luck.
