Having an issue with my HP DV 2000 Laptop.. The laptop will turn on but the screen will not turn on.

No doubt it is the problem of nVidia chipset, contact service engineer to solve this issue... All HP laptops with dv series has this problem,

Is the laptop an HP DV 2000, 6000, or 9000 series? If so you could be one of the many afflicted with a problem that caused many HP laptops to go poof. There was an issue with these series of laptops motherboards causing the screen to go black, and then not power on. There was a recall that made the manufacturers warranty a year longer (from 1 to 2 years) but that has long since passed. Since it is the main board of the computer, it's a several hundred dollar repair and is typically more expensive to repair than it would be to buy a new laptop.

Regardless of whether or not this is your issue, I would recommend re-seating the RAM or having someone who is familiar with computers do this for you. Basically by removing and re-inserting the RAM in the computer you ensure there is a snug fit as this could cause a similar problem.

I found some info on a forum, it says the 1 long and 2 short beeps is a problem with the graphics chip. You may need a replacement motherboard.

You have a loose connection on the cable for the screen. The case of the laptop must be removed and the cable reseated in its connector and the problem will be gone.

Buy a new one from HP.

Contact HP. There are known issues with the DV line of laptops. They die......seriously. Ask them if the problem qualifies your laptop for a "one time warranty enhancement". They might just fix it free as there are known problems with the DV series.

If you've checked the battery and power cables are connected properly then you've done as much as you can do, you'll need to take the laptop to a HP repair centre.
