Hi,

This is an electro/mechanical problem which could be:
1. cut/slipping belt;
2. gear mechanism;
3. foreign object lodged inside;
4. drive motor/pulley;

As you can see a number of possibilities. Since this would involve opening the unit (a bit complicated with combo units), perhaps your best bet wold be to seek the services of a qualified professional. Sorry but no easy fix for the user. Actually the difficult part is not fixing but rather disassembling.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

It will have a mechanical problem in the transport whereby it is not fully loading, If you have kids, pop the door up and see if there is anything dropped down inside it. If the load assembly has a problem, then they can be replaced as a complete part. You may need to get a tech to look at it for you. If you want to do it yourself, I can help you get the parts, and talk you through it.

VHS Tape is stuck. Tried unplugging and plugging back in while holding the eject button but that only oped the door then closed the door to the tape.

Hi, I see this problem frequently, what has happened is the Tape loading motor has failed, or the driver for that motor has failed or the Mode switch, has.
If you wish to DIY, you will need a service manual, I have given you a link below.
http://www.tradebit.com/tagworld.php/sylvania

However if you do not wish to DIY, then please contact a Sylvania authorised service center, then ask for a "Quote" for the repair.
Unfortunately, these days many seemingly simple repairs can cost almost as much as a new unit, WITH a warranty.
Often I find it is better for customers to put any monies they would have spent on repairs into a new unit.

Vcr cuts my tv off after i put the tape in

The VCR is not turning the TV power off. The tape is not playing. I'd guess maybe it needs a cleaning or a replacment.

Dejar solamente la TV

you have a Philco, TV\VCR Combo Your problem is the VCR.The rubber band that pulls in the Vhs tape and kicks it out is stretched,
or damaged. The TV turns off to protect itself. You need a replacement.If u know how to get inside,look at the right side of the VHS section [you will be facing the back of the TV] be careful! "Electricity HURTS. It will be very hard to find the replacement VHS rubber band. There are 3 bands, replace them ALL!!, not just the damaged one.

VCR repeatedly tries to play and eject when tape deck is empty

the tape carriage is probably stuck, or something stuck inside blocking the tape sensor.
feed a tape in and see if it does it "with" the tape too

hope this helps

TV shuts off by itself

I think that this might be a power supply problem. The VCR might be loading down the supply and causing the shut down. If you are going to try to fix this yourself I would shuuest you get a schematic and multimeter, and an oscilloscope, here is why, The schematic will tell you what voltages are normal, The multimeter will allow you to measure those voltages, the oscilloscope will allow you to test for ripple voltage which might be present riding on your dc voltage level. If you do not have access to this equipment or do not know how to use this type of equipment, I would suggest that you take the unit to a shop.

VHS problem, any help?

It sounds to me like you have a problem with the reel sensors not detecting movement of the tape through the VCR. This could also be caused by a defective voltage regulator(s) that powers the sensors. This model was made by symphonic/funai (1-800-242-7158), and it is not likely worth repairing.
