Read you manual, there is a page with a matrix of the audio in selectiosn that can be made for coaxial and optical on each input. Then you have to go into setting button on the right side of the unit and the "push set" knob to change the inputs for the digital audio.
My problem is, I had this all working and went to change the inputs around to add a optical DVD changer and now niether of my optical inputs are working any more. Analog is still fine.
No. That's for connection between JVC compatible units.
Not knowing what kind of inputs your PC takes: if it has only analog RCA-type inputs, run a pair from the receiver's tape out; if the PC has digital toslink (optical) or spdif (coaxial) inputs and the receiver has some sort of digital output, use that.
You could also rig a connection from the tape out, using adapter cables, to the PC's headphone in.
Also...If your BluRay player only has a optical output for audio you will need to swap the inputs on the JVC rx-5020v. Press the "settings" button repeatedly until "digital in" appears on the display. Now use the "adjust" up and down buttons until DVD is selected as option 2. It will look like something like:
Note: this may bugger any other previous setup you have.
I also had the same problem when using my optical output for DBS and DIGITAL DVR/DVD.. you need to change the setting for this by on the remote changing to either analouge..rca sound input or Digital...for Optical input. The same problem cuaght me oput for a long time as well. The button is when you slide down the remote cover and the button is called analoug /digital
