Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Panasonic SA-PM19 Thank you for the insight on the disc mechanism. I got the hint when the first one broke as it came out of the box and then I got it replaced at the store. The other trays work OK (for now) and will keep it until they break.

Same system, I had a disk jamb up. I opened the case and was able to remove the disk and free up the trays. Now the trays won't work, load, etc. I had disk one working but not the other 4. I tried pulling all the trays forward, that didn't work, then tried pushing them towards the back of the unit and that didn't work either. This system works fine for what I need it for, it is inside but I have speakers outside. We have Bose system inside, but I couldn't see spending the big bucks to add on to it since I already had this spare unit laying around. These units are now difficult to find and the size works for the cabinet it is in. We like the unit because it can hold 5 disks. Any advice?

I am really glad that you realized I was being honest with you. Some people get mad if you tell them they purchased a piece of junk.Thats why I always tell them that unless you work on them on a daily basis, how could you know it is not very good quality.

If you ever need any help with anything audio, I will always tell you the truth about it. There is a reason why so many electronics are so cheap now!

Your Panasonic stereo will have to be disassembled to access the CD drive. REMOVE POWER BEFORE DISASSEMBLY! Be sure to read and heed the warning about exposure to the laser before attempting maintenance. The tracking mechanism may need cleaning before it is lubricated. For lubrication, I have used silicone spray (the kind used to unstick windows) applied to a cotton swab and then applied to the mechanism tracks.

How to hook up a ipod to a panasonic SA-PM19

The way I do it is to run a line between the Aux In RCA jacks on back of the SA-PM19 and the earphone jack on the iPhone, iPod, smartphone or MP3 player.

I have a JAMO SW410E subwoofer and would like to connect it to my Panasonic SA-PM19 stereo system, Im not sure if its possible but I would like to know if i can and how to do so. Thank you.

Sorry to said but Jamo SW410E is an active subwoofer. This means that is has his own amplifier for the speaker (that why you can see at the back panel of the sub the RCA connectors for Left and Right (line in level):

In the meantime your Panasonic SA-PM19 stereo system has none connector for audio out (except the one for the heaphones). So it's not possible to connect these 2 audio devices together.

Panasonic SA-PM19 5 disc player jumps around, starting at or near first track, plays a little, then jumps a good chunk, plays a little more etc, until it reaches (quickly) the end of the disc. It does this...

Could be a CD defect, but probably just dust inside. Try canned air, or connect IPOD after you convert CD's to MP3's or other player to AUX port as a connector as a work a around. Splicers available online if you already have a TV connected.

Panasonic SA-PM19 Disc Changer

If this is under warranty just take it in and get it repaired. If so, I feel sorry for the technician who must fix it.

If it is not under warranty, just RUN, run as fast as you can away from this machine. Panasonic made several models with this same mechanism in it and they all have major problems. They are the hardest CD mechs to repair. A mechanical nightmare. Most places will just replace the entire mech, but that would make the repair cost about $150. It may be better to just get a new one.

Your problem is a very common one for these. I am very sorry you got stuck with Panasonic's worst CD player ever. I work at an authorized Panasonic repair center, I am being totally honest with you about this. I really do feel bad for you. How could you know that this design was the worst they ever made? You couldn't!
This is the CR16 mech (that's what panasonic named it) yo ucan call any authorized Panasonic service center and ask somebody who fixes them if they have ever heard of that mech and I would be shocked if they had anything good to say about them.

let me know if you need any more help.
