-   Canon mp600r won't scan -- it worked fine when I bought it six months ago, now nothing. Still prints perfectly, just keeps asking me to put a document on the platen glass when I already HAVE done that -- every time I press the start button it hangs on "processing... please wait momentarily."-   Saltspringer

-   The printer part works fine, but the scanner is simply dead.
It is connected directly to the printer's USB port.-   Guest

Have you changed the cabling?

I found that the MP600 printed OK but didn't scan when working through a USB switch. WHen I connected it directly to the PC, it worked.

I had the same problem with my MP780. "scan failed" with vista driver and "out of memory" with scanner driver. The MP navigator program saves by default to C:\users\....\pictures\MPnavigator\xxxxx. This folder had somehow got about1gig of jpgs and a couple of mpegs in it. I cleaned these out and solved the problem. I had assumed that the navigator just expanded the folder but it appears it regards the folder as a disk of limited size. Must be a leftover from windows 9x I suppose. Anyway, clear out the folder and you should be able to scan again. Or change the default folder to something else.

Cheers

- I had a repeat of this problem and my previous posted solution did not work. This time I had to uninstall and re-install the latest drivers from Canon, and uninstall and re-install Omnipage. There is now a more vista friendly version of Omnipage from Nuance (although my version came with a tag of "vista ready" on it, otherwise I would not have bought it). You have to register and they send you a secure email link for a complete fresh download - bit of a pain really. I suspect that any program that uses WIA or Twain drivers could potentially conflict with MP navigator.

I was having the same problem and searched online and found the latest MP Navigator software at this website. After installing it, all you have to do is click scan on the computer, and it work like a charm.

I found out the solution to my problem was to install the scanner software on my husband's computer (I had put it on mine, not his) and then, big duh! It scanned everything perfectly. Felt rather stupid!

Good morning - I had the same problem - drove me crazy. I found that when I specified the dimensions of the item being scanned the problem went away. For example, putting an old 3x3 photo on the platen and then trying to scan would come up with a "not connected" error. Specifying the document to be scanned was 3x3 fixed that.

I hope this is helpful
