i've tried everything. different applications. recabling. but nothing gets this canon to scan.  it just seems to hang with a dialogue box saying....
"Processing calibration data from scanner. Do not open the document cover."

    can't scan

  • Anonymous Oct 03, 2008

The printer part works fine, but the scanner is simply dead.

It is connected directly to the printer's USB port.

Canon mp600r won't scan -- it worked fine when I bought it six months ago, now nothing. Still prints perfectly, just keeps asking me to put a document on the platen glass when I already HAVE done that -- every time I press the start button it hangs on "processing... please wait momentarily."

I was having the same problem and searched online and found the latest MP Navigator software at this website. After installing it, all you have to do is click scan on the computer, and it work like a charm.

USE EUROPE MP NAVIGATOR, PRINTER AND SCANNER DRIVERS. ALL THREE NEED TO BE INSTALLED AND ARE AVAILABLE ON CANON EUROPE SITE.

Have you changed the cabling?

I found that the MP600 printed OK but didn't scan when working through a USB switch. WHen I connected it directly to the PC, it worked.

I had the same problem with my MP780. "scan failed" with vista driver and "out of memory" with scanner driver. The MP navigator program saves by default to C:\users\....\pictures\MPnavigator\xxxxx. This folder had somehow got about1gig of jpgs and a couple of mpegs in it. I cleaned these out and solved the problem. I had assumed that the navigator just expanded the folder but it appears it regards the folder as a disk of limited size. Must be a leftover from windows 9x I suppose. Anyway, clear out the folder and you should be able to scan again. Or change the default folder to something else.

Cheers

I had a repeat of this problem and my previous posted solution did not work. This time I had to uninstall and re-install the latest drivers from Canon, and uninstall and re-install Omnipage. There is now a more vista friendly version of Omnipage from Nuance (although my version came with a tag of "vista ready" on it, otherwise I would not have bought it). You have to register and they send you a secure email link for a complete fresh download - bit of a pain really. I suspect that any program that uses WIA or Twain drivers could potentially conflict with MP navigator.

I found out the solution to my problem was to install the scanner software on my husband's computer (I had put it on mine, not his) and then, big duh! It scanned everything perfectly. Felt rather stupid!

Good morning - I had the same problem - drove me crazy. I found that when I specified the dimensions of the item being scanned the problem went away. For example, putting an old 3x3 photo on the platen and then trying to scan would come up with a "not connected" error. Specifying the document to be scanned was 3x3 fixed that.

I hope this is helpful

SOURCE: canon MP600 won't scan

i would say maybe first step os to unistall all canon mp600r software includin scanning programs and reinstall them and see if it then works. this might cure your fault but make sure you do it from the setupdisc not the canon website.

Hope this helps

Do you have Windows Vista or Windows 7? They are two different OS. Drivers are available here. If you haven't downloaded and installed the latest drivers, uninstall all drivers on your computer before installing these. Be sure and download/install the MP Navigator also.

I have a dell 946 all in one printer... everything works but the scanner... I just purchased a new computer that has vista and my old computer had xp... worked fine on old puter... any suggestions

You need a new driver from Dell that funtions with Vista. If you have Vista X64 OS then this function may not be available for a while longer as the driver for the scanner is still in development. There is a significant difference between a 32-bit and 64-bit OS.

I'm running into networking problems with my Vista X64 OS and a printer on my home network that connects through XP Pro on a desktop computer with a 32-bit OS.

A Windoze Vista 32-bit laptop has no problems with this printer.

Here's a link to the download section at Canon for your MP600. Simply choose your Vista version (most likely 32 bit) and download. it.

Atthe same time you'll notice the operating guides are listed below and you can download them as well.

Good luck

My Windows Vista SP1 isn't compatible with my Canon PIXMA MP600

You can download the vista drivers here. Under drivers and support then choose your operating system. Make sure to select the correct Vista for your system they have vista and vista 64. You can find which you are running by right clicking on my computer and choosing properties. It is likely normal Vista (Vista 32).

Scanner won't work on Dell 924

Same thing happened to me, only different model.

First, make sure you have the right drivers (and by that I mean 32-bit or 64-bit).

Go to control panel and remove your previous installation; reboot; reload the drivers with your All-In-One UNPLUGGED until they tell you to plug it in.

That was the trick that worked for me. Good Luck.
