Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Own a Dell laptop without wifi or wireless capabilities. Don't want wireless on this Dell (home pc). Now own a 2nd laptop (work pc) - a Sony that has wireless. I have a wireless router, and would like to set up the Linksys using the Dell non-wireless laptop, but don't seem to be able to utilize it to set up the wireless system. I am not able to install software due to admin lock on the Sony laptop. what to do? I hope this makes sense.

I have replaced my dell inspiron 6400 screen cover. Now my wifi connection does not work. I am getting a message "no wifi networks found". Manual diagnostics tool shows "scan test"...

1st : check if the wireless capability of your notebook is enabled. There might be a switch or button that needs to be pressed to enable the wireless capabilty of your notebook.

2nd : check the device manager if the wireless network card is listed with no question mark or exclamation point. if it has, then reinstall the driver.

3nd or the wireless card might loosen.. at the bottom of your notebook, you will find several screws there. look for a small box usually with 2 screws. Open that up and you should see a black and white cable connected to a small card. Ensure those 2 cables are connected. Ensure that the laptop is powered off when you do this. Then try it again.

Hope that works.

If you know what the spec for your laptop is check the encryption its capable of on a wireless network. If it an older laptop then its probably only 64bit encryption whereas your router is probably 128bit. If this is the case you need to set your router to 64bit encryption for it to work, and then the access key for your 2nd home pc to work

Wifi quit working

i have the same computer. there is a couple things you can try. go to My Network Places and on the left hand side there is a link to view network connections, click that and see if under the wireless network it says disabled. if it does, right click on it and enable. if that doesnt work try uninstalling and then re-downloadng and reinstalling drivers. another thing, on our home wireless network every once in a while i would have to reset my modem and router. i would just unplug them for about 10 seconds and plug them back in. that helped sometimes too

How do I turn on wireless capabilities for a Dell Inspiron 1525?

On the right-hand side near the cd rom drive, there is a switch that moves back and forth. move it towards the back of the computer. that should turn on your wireless capabilities. A wi-fi manager screen should pop and and you should be good to go.
