To get audio connect a set of phono cables or digital cable if cable box has it to (phonos) the sat input or (digital) to the optical or coax input. You didnt say which yamaha amp you have so if you do not get sound you may have to assign the inputs in the set up menu.
hope this helps

Upgraded older HD TV to a Sharp 70" smart TV & Home Theater Receiver (Yamaha RX-V575. Have AT&T U-verse HD Cable box. What is the connection sequence using HDMI cables. Searched Yamaha and AT&T sites and...

I dont know about your particular hd hookup , but I take the hdmi cable out of my dish reciever/dvr [digital video recorder] and run it straight to the hdmi input #2 in the back of my apex 40 in lcd-hd-tv

I think take the hdmi output from the at&t u-verse cable box and plug it into the hdmi input of your 70 in sharp smart tv

that will get the input signal from your cable box ,both video & audio, into your tv set.
on the back of your tv set
there should be audio outputs for home theater audio systems that would plug into the audio inputs of the home theater system.

prehaps i am wrong because you say that your yamaha is a home theater* reciever.* is the yahama more than a home theater audio system? What does it recieve?

Idea-- the salesman that you bought it from should be willing to help tell you how to hook it up.

also consider that there are many different ways to hook up vcr's and then dv recorders and dvd recorders and external 2 tera bite hard drives into my tv & dvr . I got that all hooked in & a rats nest of wires. so i can record in hd or sd,on vhs or dvd or dvr
point is that you cant hurt anything by plugging the wrong plug into the wrong jack, as long as the same type of plug goes into the same type of jack.
If its right,it works, if its wrong, it wont work until you plug it into the proper jack.

im sorry ,im 65 am not into knowing all the latest and greatest cutting edge tech ,but i am begining to catch up on my hobby, movie recording tech.

Yamaha RX-A1010 died when connecting new cable

check the hdmi jack that you plugged into and make sure that none of the pins got bent. If the wrong pins touch each other or the chassis it could short out something and cause it to shut down.

I wanted to know if there is a way to hook up the sound from a Panasonic DMP-BD655P-K Blu-Ray player to my existing Yamaha DVX C310SW home theater system. I know I can hook the Blu Ray directly to the TV...

Yes this can be done. You have several options for audio hookup. Stereo 2-channel (white and red) RCA cables, digital audio (optical or coaxial) or HDMI. Your home theater must have the inputs available such as optical, coaxial etc. Typically the stereo 2-channel RCA is the simple way. Just connect from the Bluray audio outputs to the Home theater inputs (white and red) for stereo sound. Select the input on the home theater. For Dolby Digital 5.1 use optical digital audio cable (black port) or coaxial (orange RCA port) from Bluray to similar home theater input.

I have the bd230 5.1 system hooked up the speakers, attached the power cord and hdmi cable from receiver to the tv what else do I need to get sound from my tv I have a hd cable.box do I need to run a cable...

The home theater box performs the production of the sound generation. Also, the theater box, distributes the sound to any display devices like TVs, Music MIxers, DVDR, VCRs, ext. The theater box also has connection ports that are recognisable as receptacle area from speakers, woofers, and twitters that combined to form the home theater of devices acquired. First, start by connecting the component parts of the theater system to the box. For example, speakers to an area on the box, twitters, woofers. At which point, the box would require a power cable to an electrican circuit to display functionality mode. The next step is deciding on which display reciver would be providing sound to the theater setup of blasters. For example, choosing to acquire sound from a TV set is achieved by connection cables that derived sound out of the TV to the theater box. E.G. The TV audio output area provides the connectivity of any external audio blasters like with the theater setup. Using the appropiate audio input output connection cables to acquire sound transfer matters. The device may not have been provided with a TV audio input out cable of connections. Acquire from retail input output cables from TV to theater boxes. Remember that, the theater box may have come with a remote control that require separe operations than the TV. The theater system theraafter would require power on buttons if any separate remote controls were acquired as well. Also, the television set would require alteration settings with the remote control. Adjusting the TV sound settings to acquire or direct internal sound to an external setup infrusture is possible explanation also achievable with TV REMOte controller soon after every wireing cables have been established alos powered on to source of current. How do you attach an x-box to the yamaha natural sound home theater system dvr s200??

Hi,

You need to use an optical cable to connect your xbox to your home theater system.
This can be done 2 ways

1) You can connect the optical cable directly from the xbox to the home theater system.

2) You can also connect your xbox to your TV by HDMI and then connect your TV by optical cable to your home theater system.

This has the added benefit of all the devices that use your TV being able to use the home theater system in the same way the xbox is using it.

No sound from rear speakers with TV and DVD player

You also have to connect a SPDIF coax or optical from both the DVD player and from the STBox into the digital inputs on the rear of the receiver. And select them with the remote control.

Connecting cable to receiver

Do you mean 5 RCA audio outputs marked as FrontLeft, FrontRight, RearLeft, RearRight, Center? Unfortunately this receiver doesn't have discrete 5ch inputs (as yamaha calls it on its webpage).
But the cable box should have also digital audio SPDIF output - that is either optical (square connector) or coax (RCA usually orange). You can use this for connecting to receiver.

What is the correct wiring connection using hdmi and optical cables from a lcd tv to yamaha yht292

If you tv has a hdmi input, connect it to the Yahama receiver hdmi output (out). If you are using a satellite receiver, digital converter, or a cable box with hdmi output(s), connect them to the Yahama hdmi input (in) for video and audio signals. If the above box(es) do not have hdmi capabilities, then connect the box(es) to the Yahama with either component (preferred), svideo, or yellow RCA compsite video jack (least preferred) for the video signal. For audio, connect the box(es) with optical or coax (preferred) or left-right-center-front-rear patch cords.

It really all depends on what outputs are available on the boxes and/or signal source(s).

Hope this helps,

Rhais
