You need to go in to system prefrences and find the internet section and enable it, watch out for passwords as Apple use different default charactors to infill if your password is shorter than the required amount, get back if you need more help, Im a little rusty on 10.3!

Not connecting wirelessly to mac

Thank you for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

Depending on what type of Internet service you are using, your Intel iMac comes standard with an Airport Extreme wireless card built in. As a result, if you are unable to connect wirelessly to the Internet, you will need to try this:

- Click on the Apple menu icon, located in the upper left corner of your screen and select System Preferences from the drop down menu.

- Now locate Network from within System Preferences.
- In the side window, make sure you see Airport and check also to see that it is turned on. If it is, then check the left side window to see if the AirPort connection is active.

Keep in mind, your modem or connection router of course, has to be able to provide wireless connectivity, otherwise, if you do not, there will be no need to try connecting via your AirPort Extreme card.

If your network has been physically set as a wireless network, then just turning on the AirPort card in System Preferences>Network will start discovering all networks within its range, including your own network.

So whether you are using an Airport Extreme, Express or a 3rd party (non-Apple-branded) router, you should be able to connect wirelessly.

If you are still unable to connect with these basic steps, here are a few articles you will need to review from Apple Support informational database:
Requirements for wireless Internet access with AirPort
Airport & Bluetooth interference (for connectivity issues)

So here are some basic steps and resources you can try.

If you have more questions please feel free to post a comment.

I hope this information helps.

I f I connect hotel internet via Apple USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter to my MacBook Air, internet after few minutes disconnected, to connect again i take out the cable, and then plug in, usually internet start...

Try turning off Airport. Your computer may be finding a wireless network and automatically switching to it, and getting an intermittent signal. Just a guess, but for a good ethernet connection you want to disable the Airport searching feature anyway.
Open the System Preferences application, select "Network" and right on the top left of the resulting window there's a pretty big button that will either say "Turn Airport On" or "Turn Airport Off" - just turn it off if it's not already ...

Hope this helps!

My clamshell ibook shows signal but won't load sites...

Try with Safari or Firefox. If still no pages loading then your Airport is not connecting to the Internet. If you are using a cable modem contact your ISP for assistance.

Internet connection

Depending on what model clamshell you have will determine a few things. One thing to take into considertion is does it have an airport card in it already? I know it does not have USB 2.0 so a dingle is going to be super slow.
The original apple airport cards that went into most of the computers before like 94 or so are the same and will work in your machine too.
Getting to it is a little more of a chore. go to iFixit.com for a detailed directions to install it and they also have items like this for sale. Check on eBay for a known good working pull apple airport card delivered for not more than $75.
