Question about RCA HD52W59 HDTV Projection Television
This set was a freebie and had somthing spilt on the front of set. The previous owners took it to a RCA repair shop, and the tech. cleaned the middle CRT board. It worked for 2 weeks and stoped again. Now there is no sound or pic. The power light blinks and thats it. Is this worth fixing? Bill
This might be a switching power supply problem. Since whatever may have spilled got on the broad and over time dried and shorted something out. While this is a possibility, I think that in this case the two incidents are not related. I think that you do have a power supply issue but the spill is not related. Is it worth fixing, That's up to you to decide the only thing I can do is to tell you what the problem may be and give you possible prices. For this job you are looking at a high end payment of $1000.00 if the IHVT, HOT, and High Voltage Tripler (along with associated circuitry) is defective. However it could be as simple as a fuse being defective. What I would suggest is getting an estimate based on a technician troubleshooting the Tv and determining what is wrong. at worst you'll be charged $100.00 for the house call. It's up to you then to decide to get it fixed or not.
I hope this helps,
