Make sure that the hard drive is on one cable the ide and that the power is run to it, there is also a jumper setting on the back of the hard drive, you want this little jumper to be on the "master" setting. lastly resetting the bios to defaults will ensure that bios will detect the old hard drive. it will prompt you what key to press to enter bios. generally the key will be F2 F1 delete or TAB try pressing each of these before the computer beeps. in all reality there is much more to replacing a hard drive then plugging it in windows will need to be reinstalled as well as the drivers will be designed to run off the other computer

Sorry to say, you may have a dead main board. Depending on the type you may have a glimmer of hope by removing the drive from the case and putting it into a new store bought caddy. But before you do, get the drive out first and if you can plug you USB cable in when it is out of the case, you will need to take it to a specialist Data recovery centre. Have you tried different cables and other USB ports as well? I'm assuming also that you are plugging your drive directly into a PC port and not via a non powered USB hub

Harddisk failure iminnent in hp pavillion ms 200 how to fix

You need to open the case (make sure power and everything is unplugged), which if slightly harder on a All-in-one PC. But when you do. you'll see a hard drive (google images) you need to unplug it from its cable and replace it with a new one. And depending on the problem, you could try get it fixed, take it to a repair shop, if not, transfer all your data onto the new hard drive by mirroring it. Then place the new hard disk in place of the old one.

Have a HP SR1010V, 33GB HD - XP Home. Want to 1) replace HD with a 100-200GB HD OR 2) ADD a 100-200GB HD and 3) ADD a DVD drive. What is best way to copy data to a new HD and to boot the new HD. Rather...

The easiest route would be to install the new hard drive in place of the old hard drive and place the old hard drive below the new hard drive and make it a secondary hard drive or slave drive. Once you have them installed this way you can install Windows XP Home to the new hard drive once you have it installed to the hard drive then you can copy everything from your old hard drive to the new one. Once you have everything copied from the old hard drive you can then format it within Windows to have 33GBs of space to store anything you wish. If you need more detailed instructions don't hesitate to reply.

I want to read the files of my old Hard drive?

ok you have a pc. now, plug the IDE connector to your old hard disk and plug the power connector also. Now, you have 2 hard disks. Your old hard disk must be plugged into the secondary IDE slot. Dont touch anything with your original hard disk. Just add your old hard disk to your PC through the secondary IDE slot and using IDE cable. When your Windows OS opens, you will see a new Hard Drive when you open My Computer. It could be Drive E, F or G

Hard Drive won't boot Windows

yes.. because the booting information and booting files are sored only in active primary partition of a hard drive. i.e primary drive. if you remove the primary it wont recognize the OS with out booting information. you should need to reinstall OS.

Hard drive problem

You said that the HDD didn't get recognized even when it was connected to another computer. In that case, the problem is with your hard disk drive, not with *********** board. Get the hard disk checked by a technician.
