-   I have a similar problem. When I try to copy the message is Scanner Failure. I can power down with the power button but it take at least 30-45 seconds. It automatically powers itself back up but still won't copy. -   jlindsey3848

-   I tried scanning yesterday and the message on the display reads "Scanner Failure - Press OK". When I press OK, the display reads "Align Page". But I am unable to go through the steps of scanning the alignment page because of the problem with the scanner.-   canesfan69

i had this same problem. my husband was ready to return the printer to the store, but we had exceeded the 30 day return policy.

so... after a LONG talk with india...

try this:

make sure your printer is plugged directly into the wall.

(this is from memory... so i might be missing an instruction or two. don't be afraid to mess around with the "print photos" and "red eye removal" buttons. these are your secret overriding buttons!)

during the "align cartridges" message... do the following to reset:

press the print photos AND red eye removal buttons at the same time.

it will ask for a combo.

press:
print photos, THEN red eye removal, THEN print photos until a new message pops up.

this screen should allow you to arrow through to "partial reset"

click OK.

the printer will turn off automatically in about 30 seconds.

then turn the printer back on using the power button. you will KNOW if it worked when the printer comes back on. it will ask you to set your language and country. do this... then the printer will be making noises and the screen will show images you haven't seen/heard before. WOOHOO.

now you can hook your printer up to the computer... good luck!

i asked the support guys to post these instructions on the net. they said, "sometimes these instructions can have adverse affects, because other people might be having a different problem, so that's why we don't post this information for free on the internet." BULLOCKS.

i told them that was lame, and that they could have saved a whole HOUR of time by posting it on the net.

GAH!

My hp officejet d135 has been having scanner failure issues for quite some time. However, now it's error message reads, "Open door. Clear cartridge jam and then press enter." It won't work and I don't see a cartridge jam. What could be the problem?
