Question about Roper RGX4634KQ Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Heat to start, then no heat..

The dryer works fine at first. The heating element kicks on and then the gas kicks in and we get heat, after a few minutes the heat element glows but no gas for flame and an occasional buzzing sound comes from i think the regulator... I took the whole dryer apart and ran a cycle to watch the flame or lack there of.

Whats your thoughts

Thanks
Doug

I have a kitchenaid prestige gas clothes dryer. Model #KGYS677EQ1 . It is producing no heat at all, but it is tumbling fine. Can you please help me figure out the problem?

It could be a few things, but the most common is the heating element is burned out. Un-plug the dryer. Remove the cover to expose the wires attached to the heating element. Take a Ohm meter to test the heating element after the wires are un-plugged.

It is a gas dryer sometimes the burner kicks in drys and other times it won't . I cut the gas off then back on and it worked . then it stop heating again.

Hi

If your dryer is not heating, then check if the power cord is plugged into the wall. It may be loose or disconnected. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working. Now, check whether the heating element in your gas dryer is burned out by using an ohm meter to check for continuity. If the continuity is not there then you would need to replace the element. After checking the element, check out the thermal fuse to see if it's burned out. The thermal fuse is attached to the exhaust duct on the back panel of the gas dryer. It's usually surrounded by a black resin material situated in a housing made of white plastic. If the fuse looks like it

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Dryer gets hot for the first few minutes only

first check your venting. if you have backed up lint then it will not heat as well. if it's not your venting i would check to see if your heating element is broken and shorted to the casing..some times it will still heat if the coils weld themselves to the casing...if the heating element looks good then i would turn to your electrical.

I have the same exact problem. Dryer works great....when empty. Put wet clothes in and 3 or 4 hours later they are as wet as when I started. I am going to kick the piece of junk to the curb and go get a GE dryer right now.....I suggest you do the same.

I have the same AEG T57800 dryer.  Problem, no heat. Couldn't find a service manual anywhere on the net. Checked for fuses and saw none. Thermostats on heater appeared fine, showing current flow. Replaced heating element 112 54 84 41/8, via local dealer - Respond Services from Electrolux UK in Durham DL5 6ED (£68), still no heat.  Called service tech who replaced the PCB - 973916012018008 (£135 + £85 callout charge). Very, Very annoyed at this as the dryer is only 3.5 yrs old.
