Oil in the carb

Without any real detail about year, filter type or where the oil actually is "in" the carb I will try to answer. Oil can come from a few sources. The first is the breather tubes from the engine. If there is excessive blow-by the pistons, oil will be drawn into the carb through these tubes. There are also rubber check valves on top of the heads that can harden and cause the same issue. The last one is excess oil from a oiled cotton style filter (K&N). Either way, while in the garage, remove the air cleaner but leave the breather tubes connected. Get the motor up to temp and watch the tubes while reving the motor. If you see a heavy oil mist from the tubes perform a leak down check on each cylinder to identify the problem area.

Harley davidson evo motor wont turn over...just clicks

Pull the spark plugs out and hit the starter. This will make sure that the engine is not locked up. If the starter does not turn the engine, put the bike in first gear and have someone push you, making sure the engine is free. If the engine is OK, your starter is probably jammed and needs replaced. That wire getting hot is a dead giveaway something is locked up tight...starter or engine. If ya have a large hi-performance engine in the bike, chances are your stock starter won't do the job.

Muffler

If you mess with those mufflers you are goin to loose back pressure and your bikes performance will suffer. Get some slip ons , Vance and Hines, or Rinehart or Sampson. You'll get the sound you want and your performance will be enhanced as well

Some of us here do work on Harley's. You are correct on the gap, and here's enough to get started on the timing. Pull the spark plugs and set the point gap to .018 for 12volt systems, .022 for 6 volts, on the highest point of the point-cam lobe. Turn engine over until the front cyl point cam lobe (the small one) is coming around and getting ready to open the points. Remove the timing plug on the engine and gently turn the engine on the kickstarter until the timing mark appears in the hole. On most earlier big twins it should be a straight line, get it approx. in the center or slightly before.

Do new 1450cc harley davidson engines use same oils in engine and transmission ?

If you use Harley oil from the dealer, you use 20-50w oil for the engine and they use special formulated lube that you use in both the transmission and primary,Some people do use the same oil in the engine, tranny and primary, I would not recommend it

No spark

right off hand, i would do an amp draw test on the starter. if the starter draws too many amps, the voltage will pull down and some modules will not produce spark until you release the button. the voltage will surge upward allowing the module to fire. points will fire but will be extremely weak.
