Question about Pioneer AirWave XM2Go Satellite Radio Receiver with Home and Car Kit

Open Question

XM radio - intermittent signal

I have an XM2Go Pioneer Airwave radio. My receiver is in south window, with UNOBSTRUCTED view of horizon (2nd floor). Sometimes I get a signal and can switch channels at ease. Other times, I get "Loading", and then a channel that plays a few seconds, then cuts out for a few seconds. Sometimes, after the "Loading" it gives me a "No Signal". I've called the XM radio support number and all they do is "Resend The Signal", which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. HELP! Brian Callahan, Searsport, ME bscallahan@yahoo.com

SOURCE: Airwave won't power up!

Remove back cover. Plug DC adapter into the bottom of the radio. Use an extra small paperclip or pin to push the 'reset' button just to the left of the white battery. Report back on progress.

$53.50 retail from pioneer. Any XM2GO dock should work, there are a few home docks on ebay now. You may need to modify it so it can fit your radio, but the pins are all the same.

I would like to connect my antenna directly to my XM2GO unit without the docking station. Where can I find an adapter?

Simple. Go to http://xmfanstore.com , click on "Antennas and Extensions" under "Shop Categories" on the left most side of the site; there you will find "XMFanStore XM2go Direct Connect Antenna Adapter" .

It plugs into the SIDE antenna port of your XM unit and you plug the antenna into that.

Does this device charge using a usb cord?

No, you cannot charge the AirWave with a USB, you CAN charge a SkyFi3 only with a USB, but the AirWave (all XM2Go clones) require a 5Volt 2000ma (2A) power supply either a 'wall wart' or cigarette lighter plug.

Pioneer inno will not recive xm singal

Are you still having this problem? Sounds like you just aren't getting a good signal. Antenna is not properly mounted, not getting good singal.
Or, the antenna and/or cable is damaged.

The unit has an internal antenna (that is really poor) that is activated when you unplug the external antenna. This is why you get some signal when you unplug the unit.

I assume the problem is the antenna itself.

My suggesion is that you charge up the unit, take it to a place that sells XM equipment AND has a demo unit working. Be sure to take your docking station with you (it has the plug in for an external antenna). Ask the sales rep to please connect your unit to an external antenna to test your unit as you are trying to determine if your antenna is bad. If it works, you need a new antenna (cable may be cut on the inside or antenna may have water/weather damage). If it does not, then there is an electrical issue inside the unit and the unit itelf will need replacement/repair.
