ASUS CG5275 USB ports on back panel won't work

You might need the drivers, it's an odd case if they worked before.

Another possibility is the jumper header fell off the motherboard while you were moving it, this is most likely the case.

I hope this helps.

USB WON'T WORK ON EMACHINES W3050

  • Verify in BIOS the devices are enabled
  • Verify in device manager there are no driver problems and the devices are not disabled
  • Open the case and verify the cables for the front ports are plugged in all the way

First this may be lebgthy, I apologize.. ok so a few days ago i was checking emails on my desktop pc while i had my nook color charging on the front usb2.0 port when i noticed a hot/electrical fire type...

I used to have a two year old son. His mother fed him and now he's twenty-five and on his own. I blame her. They are so much fun!

Most important of all. You do not mention whether your smoke detector(s) went off. Please make sure they are all in working order.
What does Device Manager have to say about your USB ports? If you see that any are disabled, it would confirm that the system handled a failure. You may look into Windows forums for registry details if you want but I won't bother with that here.

Let's assume that the smell was from 'magic smoke' escaping from chips inside your system. (That is actual computer science folklore that you can Google). You were close and noticed the smell before it dissipated, too weak to set off your smoke detectors.

The behavior of Windows will vary from version to version but if Windows disabled failing ports, changing the registry value probably won't help. I don't know if it would hurt by restarting the damaged device. If the magic smoke has escaped, the associated chips will never work again.

You may have one or more empty expansion slots in your system. That might allow you to add additional USB ports but you can probably get by with a USB hub connected to the working ports in the back. I'd charge the Nook somewhere else. Use it's own charger or get one of those AC plugs that acts as a USB charger.

If the Nook melts anything else, you might want to exchange it under warranty. Or hire it out to one of those Quebec companies that burns down hotels.

OnBoard USB Ports Not Working and No PS/2 Ports!

When you boot the machine does it tell you what key to hit to get into the BIOS or System Setup? If so, press it. Maybe you need to try another keyboard if it won't allow you to press a key to get into the Bios or System Setup.

I moved my PC from one room to another and now the mouse won't sync with the USB connector. What do I do?

Hi, reconnect the usb to another port on the pc, check your users manual that you are pressing the buttons in the correct order, and that the mouses batteries are not empty.

if the problem comtinues try another mouse as we can't do other troubleshooting without a working mouse to use the computer with.

Setting up the emachine for the first time and keyboard won't work. checked all connections.....???

Is the keyboard a USB Keyboard or PS/2... If it is a USB keyboard try plugging it into a front USB port and see if it works. If it does you might have a lose usb cable going to the back of the computer.

I can't get my usb devices to work on my dell 4600 series pc. It won't reconise anything I try to plug in to the usb ports.

Try deleting your usb drivers.

Right-click My Computer
Manage
Device Manager
USB Controllers
Delete (Generic USB Hub)
Restart computer
(Windows will auto-install the drivers, on reboot)

Plug your device back in, and see i've it works.

Keyboard, mouse, front USBs,DVD recorder not working

It sound like your USB Ports is the problem. Go to the Hardware manager delete the USB Ports and then shutdown and power back up.
The system then should reinstall the USB Ports and associated drivers. If not the USB Ports were probably fried by the power outage.
