Question about JVC Digital Cameras

2 Answers

JVC Hard Disk Camcorder (Everio) GZ-MG155U, after break in file management, came out of it showing no recorded material (I had 6 hours of material recorded on it at the time) and though the on-screen read-out claims the disk is empty (i.e. 7 hrs of ultra-fine record time available), trying to record results in error message "recording failure." Tried "CLEAN-UP" command without success; am reluctant to reformat drive until I can find out if my 6 hours of recorded material might be recoverable. PLEASE ADVISE as to whether you think I have any hope of recovering the 6 hours of recorded material.

Hi,

To my knowledge, the he JVC has a docking station which allows transfer via USB or Firewire to your PC, have you tried using that? The JVC will appear as another drive (External Storage Device) in your "My Computer" and therefore PC utilities to check for errors, recovery and even formatted could be used/performed. Alternately, you can try removing the harddrive and connect it to an external USB adapter to the PC and same will also hold true except the camera is no longer p[art of the equation.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Try to connect first the Camera to your computer and check if there's any file inside it and see if you will be able to find that recording if not you can try to download a datarecovery software on the internet or just take this Camera to a data recovery center near you and let them do the recovery of the recording....

Hope that helps........

I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG130 Camcorder - I transferred videos from the recorder to the computer but before saving to a disk my computer crashed. Is it possible to retrieve the video from the camcorder and...

There are SD card and hard drive recovery programs available on the net, and they often can retrieve the data Go to the following website and pick "photo recovery" to get the right software:

If this doesn't work, there are other programs you can try. Just google "camera hard drive data recovery" and you will find some.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

I have a JVC GZ-HD300 Hard disc video camera and when using Everio Mediabrowser which comes with the camera download to convert my videos the conversion leaves the finished video blurred

Hi.

If the original footage was sharp, that means that you are probably using wrong compression parameter or format on Everio, while doing conversion.

If the source movie was blurred instead, try using the Advanced Image Stabilisation option, usually available in new JVC HD camcorder menu.

Everio has different quality settings. Each time you increase compression you lower quality.

Also ensure that the camera was not in a low definition setting.

Regards.

I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG21EK Camcorder can anyone tell me the maximum sd card that you can use with this camcorder

There is no limit beyond the limits of the SD cards themselves. The JVC Everio GZ-MG21EK camera DOES NOT support SDHC cards, so you are restricted to the smaller capacities of the non-SDHC SD cards. I am successfully using a 2GB SD card in this model.

Try USB transfer to PC. If all else fails, take the thing apart for the hard drive, and take it somewhere so they can pull the files off fo you.
