Printer won't power on

We had a brown out here and it took out my TV on another floor and cannon printer. Both were on surge protectors... I've tried changing outlets - removing and re-installing that little gray box - along with checking that connection in there... still nothing. Is there something I can replace/fix? Or is it now garbage?

We had a power outage, now pixma Mx410 won't come on, any ideas?

Is pinter plugged into a power strip? Try plugging directly into wall. Make sure wall outlet is working correctly, try another item in plug in. Does printer have a power module or brick that is plugged into printer? That power module is there to protect your printer during a power surge, it may need to be reset. Is there a light on that brick or power module? If so, does it light up? If not, could be a bad power module. There is no such thing as "reset" button, so don't look there...It will have to be reset in a series of ways for an "external" module.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, disconnect the cord from the power module.
  4. Wait 15 seconds.
  5. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, reconnect the power cord to the power module.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  7. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  8. Check to see if the power module or the power cord has an indicator light and if it is on
For an internal module:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. Wait 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  5. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  6. Check to see if the power module has an indicator light.
Not sure if this will help you..but worth a try.....

My JVC flat screen won't turn on, tried unplugging and resetting. Stand-by light is still on. And it's attached to a surge protector than to the wall. I've only had this for 1 year.

More than likely its bad capacitors on the Power supply very common problem with most models. You can get repair kits or replacement power boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

My area recently had a power failure. Oddly, during the power failure I could still see a light coming from the Canon MG5220 printer. After power was restored, it was sometime later when I noticed that...

Unfortunately, it sounds like when the power was restored, the printer experienced a surge. If this was not plugged into a surge protector, then it's possible the switch was fried at the point of power restoration. It is important that with units such as printers, monitors, towers (computer), tv's, vcr/dvd players, almost any type of electrical appliance be plugged into a surge protector. However, even if this was true in this case - when a power shortage (outage) is experienced, it is necessary to unplug everything so that when the power is restored, nothing that is plugged in will be affected; as your printer was.
Now, you can have this fixed - either take it to a local computer repair shop; that might be able to fix it, or contact the manufacturer and inquire about sending the unit in for repair - regardless of warranty or not. If it is still under warranty, they may honor it. I am not positive they will for an accidental damage such as this, but it's worth calling them.

My hp printer 6110 officejet all in one keep giving message scanner failure when i want to print something

Please make sure that the printer is connected to a wall outlet and not to a surge protector because surge protector distributes the total electric supply equally to each and every device connected to that surge protector. Printer might work and might not with a surge protector but it will always work fine with a wall outlet till the hardware of the printer and power chord, adapter are working fine.

some times scanner failure error comes if it is not getting enough power supply. So if it is connected to a surge protector then I will suggest you to disconnect it and connect it directly to a wall outlet.
Now scan or copy any document and see if something happens.

If not the do check while you press scan or copy button the scanner light is moving or not?
If scanner light is not moving then do a hard re-set.

Hard Re-Set :
- disconnect power chord from the back of the printer and then from wall outlet or surge protector.
- wait for 40 secondsand then connect the power adapter to wall outlet and then to the back of the printer. The try to scan or copy....still not working then check if the scanner bulb is glowing or not?

If scanner bulb is not glowing and if you dont hear any noise while you press scan or copy...then printer hardware has gone bad and you need to replace the printer

I HAVE A BROTHER MFC7345N WHICH WAS PLUGGED IN WHEN A POWER SURGE OCCURED. NOW THE PRINTER WON'T TURN ON.

youre printer mainboard just got fried. you are going to have to buy a new printer, unless the printer is still under warranty. did you cause the power surge? and did you have your printer plugged into a surge protector strip? remember these things when you go to buy a new printer, get a surge protector strip. not the cheap kind, those arent surge protectors. those are outlet additions.

Hp laserjet printer 2840

Most surge protectors only protect up to a certain limit. If you had a large surge, then i would say the power board in your printer has been zapped. I would suggest you purchase a new or second hand printer to replace yours, unless your willing to pay more than the printer is worth to fix it.
Another thought is that the problem could be the actual power point it was plugged into. Try plugging it in to another power outlet that you know is working.
