Question about Panasonic Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Need to access the service menu and do not know how to do it. I have a JIG to upddate the eeprom in order to alleviate a problem with the screen having shifted to the left (a common problem, I am discovering).

Blue and pinkish red spot on mY TV

Not a very common problem, but there is a fix. If you contact Panasonic, you may get a concession for repair if the set is not under warranty any more.

This happens where static, not shutting the set down properly (such as killing the set's AC with a cable box) or noisy electric (120V) causes data corruption of the EEPROM. When the set is shut down (writing to the IC every time as to remember your current settings), the problem only gets worse with each power cycle.

The main EEPROM needs to be reloaded and updated - the new firmware is more robust and have never seen the problem reoccur. This requires a special programming jig provided only by Panasonic Services and should ONLY be done by someone who really knows what they're doing.

Good luck, Mark

You need an alignment jig made from clear plastic or strings that will make a grid on your screen. Do you have the service manual for your set? Most service manuals will give the info on making the Jig and how to align the tubes.

JVC HD52Z585 green lines / remote service menu

The green screen you read about is a solid color only when you select digital input. If you are getting green lines in any other input the reset will have no affect at all.
You will need to have the TV serviced, there is a possibility that the service center can use the reset jig to correct this. But it could be more serious.

You will need to have a service center come out to try to reset the TV using the reset jig. A JVC authorized service center will be the only ones that will have access to and training to use this jig. It is a good chance reseting it fix the color problem but it could also be something more serious.

Green & red spots

The eeprom on this unit becomes corrupt and Panasonic has a jig that hooks up to the unit and corrects the problem. This problem has an extended warranty and you should call Panasonic and have them refer you to a service center to correct the problem and Panasonic will pay for this.
