Question about Umax Astra 4450 Flatbed Scanner
My Astra 4450 Flatbed has been working for 5 years.
It has suddenly stopped working. A message comes up saying .."Scanner link failure. Scanner Test suggests, 1) the power is not on...(but the small green "power on" light up front is ON suggesting that power is going thru).
2) Your scanner is not on before your system starts. (It has NEVER been
essential to power on the scanner before the system starts. I have only
powered it on when necessary to use the scanner whilst my PC is on.)
3) Error message. :"Scanner access failure".....but I have tried another
voltage converter which works well on another scanner. I have also tried
the other scanner's USB and identical leads to my Astra 4450...but to no avail. I notice that the scanners lid light does not come on. Could this be the only problem?? Where can I purchase a new one??

You can use any over the counter 12 volt power supply from a DIY or computer shop, just make sure the tip of the
plug is switched to + and the ring is negitive
also that the power supply is rated at about 18
watts or higher
