    This file was missing when reinstalling the software for Summit Photofix Copier Mk1 onto a new Dell computer, using XP Professional. Result is that I have been unable to get the Copier to work!

Most times DLL errors arise from a file being corrupted on your hard drive and there's a relatively easy fix for it.

the best solution is to re-install the drivers for your specific printer either from the disc provided by the manufacturer or from a downloaded file from the manufacturer's website.

Hi as soon as i click copy project on PT Publisher it says disc loaded but at same time a box pops up saying unhandled exception and then the whole program closes down.


Please use these instructions below to completely remove the program.
1. Go Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Find PTPublisher and click Remove.

2. Go to C:\Program Files\Primera Technology. Delete the "PTPublisher" folder

3. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PTI. Delete the "PTPublisher" folder. (The "Application Data" folder may be a hidden folder)
On Windows Vista and Windows 7 go to C:\ProgramData\PTI. Delete the "PTPublisher" folder.
Do not delete the "Drivers" folder from PTI.
Note: This folder contains your log file and personal settings such as default print quality, burn speeds, and default file locations. If you delete this folder, all settings will be returned to their factory defaults and the log file will be cleared. Rename this folder to "PTPublisherOLD" if you think you may want to retain this information.
4. Remove Burn Engine.

32Bit Windows - Browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete the following 4 files from the System 32 folder:

Px.dll
PxMas.dll
PxSub.dll
PxWave.dll

and
Pxhelp20.sys from the following location C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

64Bit Windows - Delete the following files from C:\windows\sysWow64

-px.dll
-pxmas.dll
-pxsfs.dll
-pxwave.dll

and one file from here C:\windows\system32\drivers
-pxhelp64.dll
Also delete the PX storage folder located at c:\program files\common files
5. Reinstall the latest software from the installation disc or from the files downloaded from our download site.

6. Reboot the PC. (Do NOT reboot until you have reinstalled PTPublisher)

Error Code: 2753 " Fatal Error or error MSI.dot4msi"


CAUSE:
Certain HP services (and associated DLL files) were somehow partially/improperly installed. (Possibly, from a previous failed install?)
The Windows services (files) were:
Pml Driver HPZ12 (C:\Windows\System32\HPZipm12.dll)
Net Driver HPZ12 (C:\Windows\System32\HPZinw12.dll)
The existence of these 2 files in the System32 directory was causing this error in my situation. Somehow, the installation script was not identifying that these files were already installed (or improperly installed) and failing to properly set them to be installed again.
SOLUTION:
Steps:
1) Check to make sure that the 2 Windows services above are not running (or not installed).
2) Rename/delete the 2 associated service DLL files (this will only be possible once the services are stopped)
3) Run the installation again.

then clean from add remove programs/program and features.
then clean from cleanup utility all hp pritner related entries.
then clean temp folder. clean recycle bin.
delete c:\program files\hp and hewlett packard folders (if not an hp computer). on hp computer delete digital imaging bin folders.
delete following folders from following locations-
C:\windows\System32\Spool\Printers and deleted entries inside it
C:\windows\System32\Spool\drivers\w32x86\*.* deleted entries inside it
C:\windows\twain_32.

cleanup from regsitry--
plz make back up for registry first.

then go to msconfig
make it selective startup disable all microsoft services except hp services. hide all microsoft services. disable all startup tab apply restart.
after restart install cue version 12 officejet pro 8500 or 6500.
then run msiexec.exe /unregister then msiexec.exe /regserver cmd commands.
then install software from downloaded version of original pritner install only basic drivers first and imaging devices only and use solution center 12. cue 12.
issue resolved.

you have virus (melware) on your machine. do you have any type of anti-virus program on the machine/ if so, please run it. if not, go to vga.com and download the antivirus software, and run it.

what it means is it is a popup and the computer is trying to block it but cannot and so the popup is trying to gain acsess to your computer via the internet/a webpage. that is all i know i sorry i hope this helps.

To resolve this problem, register the Ole32.dll file.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type or copy and paste the following command in the Open box, and then click OK:

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

2. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.

Hi Bo,

This usually happens in Vista machines. Try the steps below and see if it works. Let me know if u get stuck or it dosent work. Mentioning the manufacturer and the model number will be very helpful too.


  1. Search for the VBSCRIPT.DLL file on the computer. It is usually located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
  2. Click the Start icon (c01319360.gif ) , click All Programs , and then click Accessories .
  3. Right-click Command Prompt , then click Run as Administrator .
  4. In the command prompt, type CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 . If the VBSCRIPT.DLL file is located in a different folder, use the appropriate folder location.
  5. Press the Enter key.
  6. Click Continue in the window that appears on the computer.
  7. Type REGSVR32 VBSCRIPT.DLL in the command prompt and press Enter . A message appears on the computer indicating that VBSCRIPT has been installed successfully.

Fatal error installing HP 3055 all in one


OK, here is my debugged/tested solution.

I know your error refers to a different installer MSI file (CIOUM32.msi) but the installation component in your log file (ipm12.A4B24390_80AD_4BAF_B8FD_C670FE0DB586) is identical to the one that was giving me trouble as well (i.e. points to the same service/file). So it is definitely worth a shot to try this solution out as it will only take a few minutes.

My Scenario:

OS: MS Windows XP SP3 [Version 5.1.2600]
Printer: HP LaserJet 3390 (AiO) (Firmware datecode: 20070331)
Printer Connection: Connected via Ethernet with a static IP address
HP Driver Version: v4.0 (hp_LJ3050-3052-3055-3390-3392_Full_Solution_AMWE.exe)

Ran into same error that everyone else is experiencing. (see below)

Now Launching=X:\hpzmsi01.exe -m dot4msi -l XXX -f X:\DIVins??.DAT
Error message received: The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2753.
X:\HPZBDI32.msi failed with return code 1603
MSIInstall() failed with 1603
Exit code=1603

After debugging HP's installation scripts for 2 days, here is the cause & solution I identified to this specific install error. Once I got passed this error, everything installed without error and all functionality was working properly (including scanning!).


BACKGROUND:

Microsoft Installer (MSI) error 1603 is simply a generic "A fatal error occurred during installation" -- see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa368542(VS.85).aspx. This is basically MSI telling you that something very bad has happened during the installation. In order to get more details, you can turn on MSI debug logging by following this MS Knowledge Base article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300).

The MSI error code 2753 is the code for "The File '<file name>' is not marked for installation.". This error can be triggered by many scenarios, but usually, it has to do with the actual installation script not properly checking for the existence/non-existence of an installation file and then not marking it for either installation/removal. I know this sounds confusing, and it is. If your curious about all the possible causes, just Google for "msi 2753 not marked for installation" and you'll see lots of results which you can peruse for your own enjoyment.

In order to identify what was causing these 2 errors, I enabled debugging for MSI via the aforementioned MS KB article

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your Canon product

Please accept my apologies for the delay in contacting you regarding the
problems you have been experiencing with your CanoScan D646U.

I shall firstly answer your query regarding the TWAIN drivers. There are four
main TWAIN files that are pre-installed with Windows, TWAIN.DLL, TWAIN_32.DLL,
TWUNK_16.EXE and TWUNK_32.EXE. These are included with the scanner drivers to
ensure that a compatible version of the files are installed, otherwise the
scanner will not work. During installation these files are checked for and, if
a later version is already installed, the versions from the disk will not be
installed. I can assure you that the scanner driver will work OK with version
1.7 of the TWAIN drivers.

For the scanner to communicate correctly the Still Image Services needs to be
running in the background. To check this please open the Control Panel and look
under Services in Admin Tools. Please check to ensure that the Still Image
Service is running correctly.

If all this is OK, I would recommend removing the driver in the following way.
With the scanner still connected go to Device Manager. Under Imaging Devices
right click on the CanoScan D660U and select uninstall. After this please
disconnect your scanners USB lead and remove the rest of the driver using the
DELDRV utility. Before reinstalling the driver you must restart your PC and
then reconnect the scanner.

If there are still problems please check that the driver has installed
correctly. The following files should be shown in the driver section when you
look at the scanner properties in Device Manager.

All of the files mentioned above that are listed as being in the TWAIN_32\D64U
folder are the exact files that should appear in that folder if you look in
Windows Explorer.

A further cause of the TWAIN error occurring is if there is a conflict with
another TWAIN compliant device, such as a Digital Camera or scanning device
(including Multifunctional devices. If you have such a device installed try
removing its software before reinstalling the scanner driver.

Most likely some software installation has messed with the file Scrrun.dll and possibly other WSH files in folder windows\system32, or it's registration. 1)It may not be registered properly.
