Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer
Selecting cold water only, when started, the hot water valve also opens. When full the valves don't close. Using stop button shuts off machine but the valves stay open until machine is unplugged. I shut off supply and restarted it. It ran the wash cycle but at the start of the rinse it shut off. To restart it, it would only shut off in about 2 to 3 seconds. Removeing connector P7 from control board there is 1.145 kohms across hot water valve, 1.125 kohms across cold valve and wax motor has 1.215 kohms. On back of control board, the trace leading from the hot water valve connection to the resistor R103 at the main transformer is burned for about 3/4 inch. I have a new control board but before I instal it should some other component be check that might have caused the problem.
Have you changed your door latch wax motor yet... If you have the brown actuator pin then you want to chuck that wax motor out of there quicker than spit! You want the redesigned wax motor with the black actuator pin. I know of folks where the wax motor failure caused the timer and /or water valves to act up... See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for disassembly photos and other Neptune information.
