You might want to pickup a Lensmate pen cleaner to clean your optics. There is a micro one that works great for this size type camera.

Our G9 will not turn on even after well charging the battery. Thanks, Woody

This is usually caused by two screws that get loose and cause a short in the camera. A site that is excellent for help with these is: All they service are the Canon Powershots and the neat thing is they not only do the repair, they include the service for the camera and the correction for the common no power problem is automatically done during the service. If you have a Canon Powershot, they're terrific for service. It runs $89 all in with the shipping back included, pretty tough deal to beat and they do excellent work on these models.

When I press the button to turn on my Canon G9 the lense extends and then immediately goes in and on the LCD it shows "E16" Any clue what that means?

You're going to have to get it serviced since it will likely need a part replaced. If you need service on one of these, I'd highly recommend: They exclusively work on the Canon Powershots only and they do amazing work. The best part with them is they are about half of what Canon charges and the service with them is excellent. They really know these cameras. Good luck with it

My canon g9 was on the lense extended and from then on it will not turn on again

The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

Hope this helps!

My canon g9 photo shot camera totaly dead board not working properly

Your camera most likely has a short from some screws that get loose inside of these cameras. There's a really good place that only services Canon Powershots. They are not expensive at all and they do wonderful work. It's $89 with them for parts, labor servicing for the camera included. If you're in the states, they give you the free Priority Shipping going back too which is nice. One of the neat things with them is that not only do they do wonderful work, they include the no power correction on any G9 they service, that way the problem doesn't keep happening. The website for them is: If you have a Canon Powershot, they're great for help with these cameras. Best of luck with the problem.

My camera was left on and died. Is there anything I can do to fix it myself or do I have to send it off to get it repaired?

Very often on the G9's, they get the problem of the loose screws inside the camera leaving it with no power from the short. Unless you are very skilled, I would leave it to a shop so it can get fixed right.
If you go to: they just specialize in the Canon Powershot cameras and they are completely familiar with this problem. They actually have this issue right there on there site under their service packages. They charge $89 for everything, you get the parts, labor and return shipping all included with them. The neat thing is they automatically include the internal no power correction to any G9 they repair and the other nice thing is they also include all of the service for the camera at the same time.
If you need help with a Canon Powershot, they're the place. They do wonderful work on these models.

My Canon Powershot G9 suddenly stopped working yesterday. It's just stuck with the lens extended. I've checked and the battery is OK. Nothing's LCD screen, won't switch on or off etc.

This is a really common problem on the G7 and the G9. They get no power all of a sudden when two screws from inside the camera get loose and cause a short. It's not a cleaning as was suggested, your camera actually needs to be repaired. There's a great shop that only specializes in service for the the Canon Powershot cameras and they have this exact fix on their site. They charge $89 for everything. That takes care of parts, labor, the services for the G9, return shipping and they give you a pretty good warranty on the whole camera once it's been serviced. The cool thing with them is they do the correction to the two screws inside the G7's and the G9's that causes this no power problem. Here is the site where you can have it serviced: Everything comes out to $89 and they are awesome for service on the Canon Powershots. I hope this helps, all the best with it.

G9 stopped work!

There is a problem in the G9's where screws come loose and short out the camera inside. This place does the repair and they correct them inside so it won't keep happening They're excellent for any problem on a Canon. Canon no longer services the G9 which is unfortunate because the G9 was one of their best cameras. Cameras and Parts will be able to help you, that's a common problem on your model and they do the correction, plus service and repair the camera. It's $89 through them, pretty much unbeatable and they service is as good as it gets on these cameras.
