If you live in a warm weather climate that does not get below freezing temps than temporarily topping off with water until a repair is made is fine. Anti-freeze has other properties besides keeping the coolant from freezing. It also helps keep the engine cool by more efficiently transferring heat out of the engine. It also has anti-corrosion additives that keep metal parts from corroding.

So although it may seem that anti-freeze has only one purpose it actually has several.

2001 pt cruiser no heat

did you check the fluid level by removing the rad. cap? Radiator should be full to top. If Chryslers are low on coolant, the heater will not blow warm air.
