I was talking to coolguy8 when I got cut off. I have already paid for the session but not completed it. Can you please help me?

    Hello,

Yes I did fix the problem myself which turned out to be a lot more serious than I first thought. I did get the pc to shut down but honestly I don't quite know how. But as I said there was a lot more going on I had no internet and all of my system began to close down until I could not use anything at all.

I tried calling EMachines tech support but they were no help because I am out of warranty/ I called AT&T tech support and they coul'nt help. Finally my husand got a book from the library and I fixed it myself.

Since you did not complete your session and did not try to get in touch with me again after I lost contact with you I feel that you did not fulfill your obligation to take care of the problem and therefore I should not be charged for the session. Your ad says that if you do not fix my problem then I do not have to pay, and you did not fix my problem.

I hope to hear from you soon regarding this matter.

Yours Sincerely. Mrs Pauline M Wilcox.

    aka. Tuppenny1940.

Hello,
There isn't any problem with windows 7 not running well with your pc. The problem is with your pc's Processing system and RAm is really low. I would suggest you to change or upgrading the CPU and RAM in your pc.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

Won't shut down completely

If shutting down XP takes what seems to be an inordinate amount of time, here are a couple of steps you can take to speed up the shutdown process:
  • Don't have XP clear your paging file at shutdown. For security reasons, you can have XP clear your paging file (pagefile.sys) of its contents whenever you shut down. Your paging file is used to store temporary files and data, but when your system shuts down, information stays in the file. Some people prefer to have the paging file cleared at shutdown because sensitive information such as unencrypted passwords sometimes ends up in the file. However, clearing the paging file can slow shutdown times significantly, so if extreme security isn't a high priority, you might not want to clear it. To shut down XP without clearing your paging file, run the Registry Editor (click Start > Run, then type regedit in the Run box) and go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

  • Change the value of ClearPageFileAtShutdown to 0. Close the Registry, and restart your computer. Whenever you turn off XP from now on, the paging file won't be cleared, and you should be able to shut down more quickly.

Note: Please be careful when editing the Registry; you can do a lot of damage here. Don't change or delete anything unless you know exactly what it is.

My laptop won't shut down properly!

Is it possible that you have changed the settings of what buttons do what on your system? E.g. you could have changed the power button to "switch user" instead of "shut down", to check this (in XP) go to "Power Options" (in Control Panel" and then click on the "Advanced tab" at the top, then select "Shut down" from the drop down menu at the bottom of the window.

If this is already set to shut down then maybe you could do a system restore in case another setting has been changed, restore it to before the PC started doing this.

Alternatively try actually choosing "Turn off Computer" from the Log On screen (press Ctrl + L to get to this screen, or choose switch user/log off). If you are using Vista I beleive that there is a shut-down option from the Log In Page there (which again you can access by pressing Ctrl + L on the keyboard.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I bought a Norton AntiVirus package on July 31, 2008. I was infected with a Virus called VirusResponse Alert on Sunday, November 2, 2009. I looked on line for a support number from Norton and a 24...

I suggest that the only people who can answer your questions are the people at Norton. Obviously, I wouldn't ring that phone number again, because you will only get the same people you have already spoken to. I suggest that you WRITE to the Manager at Norton. (You'll find their address on their paperwork) and tell them everything that happened, and ask them the questions you want answered. And then you'll be in a position to know whether they deserve your business or not, and whether or not you have what you paid for, and if not, what they are going to do about it. Ask if they will give a refund if you have not got what you paid for. And I think that if you got a Virus while you were supposedly protected by their product, then you definitely Didn't get what you expected to.

My computor seems to have frozen up the cursor is not moving

You should try starting in safe mode. Shut down the computer completely - switch of - wait a minute and then switch on...

To get into the Windows XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the Windows Advanced Options Menu . Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Once you are in safe mode you shold be able to investigate the problem.

Let me know how you get on.
