1. You need a drive that will record on a DVD RW.
2. You need software that will let you record to a DVD RW (such as nero, roxio, there are others)

If you have the above the two, it depends on the software you use on how to record to the DVD RW.

My dvd rom have some difficulty to read some DVD.. But not all i can read the matrix 1 but not the matrix 3... Any suggestion

A DVD rom driver can read DVD disks only. DVD Recorded, DVD ReWritable disks cannot be read on the DVD rom driver. Acquire an external DVD RW driver to make possible any recorded digital formats readability.

Using Windows XP. Want to copy vidoe from Media

Is the drive you are using a DVD writer or only a DVD reader? The drive that writes to RW disks is labeled DVD/RW or DVD Recordable.
These are the only drive types that will read and write a DVD/RW disc.

Guess this a kind of sofware driver, which goes like this "ATAPI ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L ATA Device. & is Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windowsmag-glass_10x10.gifos from Win95 up. Windows XP (and Windows Vista) provides nativesupport that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burna cd-r disk. No support for playing dvd disks or for burning dvd orcd-rw disks. For those tasks, compatible 3rd. party recording & dvddecoding software is required.

Need to find correct driver to reinstall.

Alternately, download and install the DVD fix from the Web site below.

After performing this registry fix, just reboot the pc. Now your drive should be visible in My Computer and work properly.

By mistake I bought a dvd rw disc instead of dvd-rw disc and recorded a holiday video on my camcorder with it. I usually then upload the contents of the dvd onto my hard drive (Pioneer) and then download...

Try uploading to your PC then converting it to AVI this keeps quality of video. Then if you want to download to a disk use Nero to convert it to VOB (DVD format) and burn off. You can also use Nero to erase the disk. (Nero 7 or more recent preferably.) You must also be sure you PC DVD read write head can take the DVD +/- RW. CHeck compatability.

My matshita uj-860s disc drive has stopped working

In my case, MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-860S did not want to write CD-R,-RW Verbatim using software NERO 8, but is easy to write their own software windows XP.
in the Log file was as follows:

Could not perform start of Disc-at-once

Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)

Power calibration error

whether

Invalid field in parameter
E: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-860S

ACTION! :)
Change in method of recording NERO 8 Burning mode: DAO (Disc-at-once) at Burning mode: TAO (Track-At-Once) all have established!
Simply drive MATSHITA was UNSUPPORTED software producers to write disks.
Updating the software to burn CDs, as is windows XP supports the recording and includes drivers for the drive! :)

Good luck!

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
