Cant enter password on 2002 apple laptop

If your Mac shows icon of a folder with a blinking question mark (?), that means it can't find a bootable disk.

The most common cause of this problem is hard drive failure. The second most common cause is that your operating system somehow got erased.

All time my z icon is lighiting but my laptop is not running. What can i do now?

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problemis with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and takenote of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

When i turned on switch dell vostro 230 it give no display and led colour is red

No Display, so does it seem like the computer booted up and is running except that the Display is black? Do you hear fans running, disk drive spinning, blinking lights or beeps?

I'm going to assume that in your case since you mentioned a red light that it is not booting up all the way. Therefore your problem is probably with the memory, the video card or some other motherboard issue.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of thememory chips.

No display after reboot windows

If it seems like your system is running whereas you hear fans running, hear the hard drive running, see lights, heard the hard drive click during bootup, but there is nothing on the lcd screen then try the following:
1) Try hooking a external monitor to your laptop. It can be any type of monitor even one of the old style fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to the laptop. There is a sequence of keys you might have to hit to get the display to show on the external. Most times you hit the FN (Function key) and hold it while you hit the corresponding F1 thru F12 key that is for display. Usually the correct key will say CRT/LCD or it might have a display icon on it. If the image displays on the external monitor that means the video card is good.
2). Remove the external monitor and reboot the computer again. Now when it is done booting take a flashlight an shine it on the lcd screen. You are looking to see if you can faintly see the icons on the screen. If they are there but barely visible then the LCD Inverter is bad. The LCD Inverter is located at the bottom of the lcd screen just above the keyboard and the Strip around the lcd screen covers it. You'll have to take the lcd apart to get to it.
3) If you don't see anything when you shine a flashlight on the desktop, then the lcd screen has to be replaced. However, sometimes the cable on the back of the lcd screen has come aloose or just needs reseating, so unplug the cable and put it back then see if it shows an image.

Read Below if it is not booting at all when you press the power button.
Laptops don't boot for the following reasons: 1) Bad Power Cord. 2) Bad DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop. 3) Static Charge Buildup. 4) Bad Motherboard.

The above 4 reasons are when you press the power button and absolutely nothing happens. You hear no fans running, no disk drive running, no one time clicking sound on the CD Drive and No light for a second or two when the CD drives click. In the case of a motherboard issue sometimes you will hear beep sounds or see blinking lights. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with your motherboard and why it will not boot. If you see the blinking lights or hear beeps count them.

So you have a power light which means your power cord and dc power jack is good. So lets see if you have a static charge buildup.

Remove the Power Cord and the Battery from the laptop, then Press and Hold the Power Button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds put the power cord back into the laptop, but leave the battery out. Press the power button to see if it boots. If it does you had a Static Charge Buildup and it's ok to put your battery back in. If it does not you more than likely have an issue with your motherboard.

Hi! when im opening my g4, instead of the normal apple logo when light up, the screen will light up and turned dark and light up again with a small folder with a question mark and the finder icon...

Hi, this seems to be a problem with your hard disk. You see, when your mac displays the folder with a small question mark, it means that it doesn't find the operating system. You're lucky to be able to get to your desktop, because usually that folder means you'd have to reinstall everything again.
First of all, I strongly recommend that you copy everything that's important for you (i.e. your documents, pictures, music, etc.) elsewhere, it can be an external USB drive, you can burn it into a CD, etc.
Now, as I don't know what version of Mac OS X are you running (I'm going to assume that 10.4), it seems that your problem is that your computer doesn't know where the main operating system is. We can try and fix that by going to the Apple menu > System Preferences, then select Startup Disk and in there, select the hard drive icon that says "Mac OS X 10.4 on Macintosh HD". Now select reboot and see if its resolved.
If that didn't help, you'll have to contact a technician so he can replace your mac's hard drive. Please be sure to have a copy of all your important documents somewhere else.

How can i install sound drivers into my laptop

To install a sound driver on your Laptop, you must have the CD that has this drive, or download the driver from the Laptop Manufacturer website for your OS.

Run the sound driver sutup.exe file and follow the isntruction on the screen.

If you are an advance PC user, you can use the following Method.
Right Click my computer, Manage, Device Manager.
On the right pane of the you will see the sound card marked with Yellow Question Mark, or a Yellow Triangle with exclamation Mark depending on the version of OS you are running.
Right Click the Yellow question marked Icon, update driver, choose the location of the driver on the CD or the location you stored it on your local drive.
Follow the instruction and complete the installation.

I have an IBM ThinkPad T40 and the CD ROM drive stopped reading the disk...do you have any suggestions why...And what does the little "!" mark mean on the CD ROM drive device icon

It sounds like you have a driver issue with the device. I have also seen viruses cause this. Try going to device manager, right click on the cd-rom and remove it, then reboot your computer and it will automatically find it again and try to install it. If it still shows the exclamation mark then you have bigger problems, run a virus scan, if possible from a third party machine.

Hope this helps!
