How do i connect a netgear wireless router to comcast modem

Unplug your Comcast modem from your electrical outlet. Connect the Ethernet cord from the back of your Comcast modem into the Ethernet port labeled "Internet" on your new router. Connect an available Ethernet port from the back of the new router to the Ethernet port on the back of your computer.

Plug your cable modem into an electrical outlet. Plug your new router in an electrical outlet.

Reboot your computer. Click on "Start," then "Control panel." Click "Network and sharing." Select "Set up a new home network."

Click on the option for a router or cable modem when prompted by Windows to select your hardware. Your computer will attempt to access your new router. When the brand name for your router is listed, double-click it so your computer can configure itself to the new router.

Create a new name for your home network and create a unique password to prevent unauthorized users on your network. Your computer may reset your Comcast modem and router so your new changes can take effect.

I wish to add my grandson's PC to my account.

your statment dosnt clearly define what you intend to do im going to guss your reffering to an account on your internet conection this is only posible if you have a broadband conection
ie dsl or cable modem
if you do the next pice of hardware you will need is a router i recomend the newer standerd witch is defined as wirless N or simply N the older tech is the g standard
the diffrence in the 2 is conectivity speed
the g standard has a max thru put of 150 Mb/s
where as the N standard has a thruput of 1
Gb/s or 1000 Mb/s
i just bought a netgear n300 to replace a failing 12 year old lynksis g standard
works great but isnt expandable past 4 pc's with out using the wirless features but i have no intention of ever having more then 4 pc's hooked up in this house so no big deal there
I paid 79$ for my N300 from bestbuy
once you have the router the rest is a matter of hooking it up and configuring it
hope this is what you ment by adding your grandsons computer to your account
if not you will have to repost and in alot more details about what your intent is
best of luck the all knowing moron

Hi: Comcast connected my tv and pc yesterday but could not get the pc to recognize or pick up the comcast connection. We moved this computer to another house and it was previously connected via a router....

In the new house, do you have a router also? If so, merely plug it in the same way. I know of no reason why it would not work in a new location, unless the cable connection to the cable modem is defective. Same thing happened to me, with Comcast, in Tennessee. I had to do the repair myself.

THe easiest option would be to buy a device callled a Dazzle. These devices allow you to hook up the RCA style cables into the computer. THere are numerous brands of (Video Capture Devices) so go to your local electronics store and find one that fits your budget

Bought a hard drive & each time I put the cumputor on it tells me I have an invalid disc & wont let me start up till I pull out the conection.

This is going to be a very general answer because I have almost no information to go on.

You computer is trying to boot off the new drive (it thinks it is C:) and cannot because it is a new drive.

If your drive are connected with a wide cable (about 1.5 inches) you have IDE drives. If your drives are jumpered as Cable Select and on the same cable, swap the physical locations of the drives. Otherwise make sure your old drive is jumpered as Master and the new one as Slave.

If they are on separate cables, the old drive should be connected to the primary controller and the new one to the secondary. Since you are having problems, swap them.

If the cable is a narrow one (about 0.5 inches), you have SATA drives and you need to go into the bios to change the boot sequence. Because I do not know the make and model of your computer I cannot be specific, try pressing the DEL key as soon as you turn on the power, this method is the most common.

I also predict that your next question after this works will be why windows does not see the drive. But, that is the next question. Right now see if this works, if not please post the make and model of the computer, the make and model of the drive and your operating system.

Check that the wireless drivers are installed properly on both your laptop and desktop. THe certificate error is because your laptop does not "trust" your computer. Under network conections click add a connection ec, and when you try to conect, microsoft should ask you weva to trust the connections from computer to computer that should do it :D

Compaq was bought with msn companion service required

This is where you should be in contact with Comcast Tech Support 1-888 262-6300.
The INSTALL tech should have had you on-line before he left.
You need to conect your TV/Computer Cable to a Cable modem and a CAT 5 cable to your NIC (Network Interface Card)
All the lights on the modem should be on except the TEST light and the DATA light should be blinking.
You may have OLD drivers for the Cable modem, download those from another computer from the modem MFG.
Nothing else is required.
