I have almost the exact same problems with my belkin g. I have been on the Bell canada support sites to try and get help with the network. They suddenly DO NOT support Belkin routers (or I suppose any other types) because they are now offering their own brand of wireless routers that you rent from them. Perhaps your service provider is the same. Mine worked great until the middle of June or maybe a little earlier. I even bought a brand new router to see if that was the problem. It wasn't!

I want to try and find any type of help available before SUBMITTING to Bell and having to peurchase their overpriced product!

    Can anyone offer suggestions?

    Thanks

    J

There is a possibility that the router that you have has a problem with the firmware or the device itself.

You can try several solutions, you can go to the setup page of the router and change the MTU of the device. If that does not work, firmware upgrade should be done on the router.

The router's firmware can be downloaded from this site: http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&aid=5027

Once the firmware has been downloaded, you need to access the router's setup page and update the router's firmware there.

1. Connect a computer wired to the router
2. Open an Internet Explorer and type 192.168.2.1 and leave both user name and password blank
3. Find Firmware Upgrade, search for the file and load it
4. After it has been successful, reset the router for 10 seconds then run the setup CD

A lot of things can keep it from working. Make sure there's lights and you have power, substitute ethernet cables, do a factory reset. Here's how I did the factory reset on my F9K1003V1.

Thank you for using fixya.

Being that your other computers in the network are working properly, you should switch the ip settings on your comnputer to automatically detect. That way your computer does all the routing and ip setting,

After you have set that back. Remove the power of your router, remove the power of your modem, and restart your computer.

Once your computer is back up, turn on modem, then the router.

It sounds very simple, but in most cases, it solves the problem.

Hope this information is helpful

I have belkin g wireless that i have to constantly connect

I have experienced the same issue with belkin routers. First, test your laptop with other wireless connections {e.g. Starbucks, McDonalds, etc..} to see if your laptop's wireless adapter is working okay. If so then it sounds like your Belkin Router needs to be reset to the factory defaults and then your personal wireless network settings re-entered.

If that doesn't work it may have to be replaced.

Please provide feedback...

As long as the computer you are connecting has the capability to connect in some form, wireless or wired, you will not have to run the web utility again. However, if you are currently connecting your laptop wirelessly, and you are connecting your other computer with a wired connection, you must make sure that the wired network is not disabled.

Laptop keeps disconnecting then connecting every so often.

Has the computer ever stayed on long enough to connect to the internet?

Is there a wired computer working when attached to the router?

If not, if possible please try to connect the laptop wired to the router as a test and tell me if it works.

I am trying to determine if your router works with the internet before considering the wireless connection simplying the initial problem. Once the router works wired is time to try the wireless. Once the wireless works unsecured you may want to change the router and wireless adapter to secure the wireless network. So this can be a three step process.
