Indesit IS 60 VS

Dear sir, i've opened the lid to the tuble and noted the snapped drive belt. For a change, i've decided to attempt fixing it myself. Not being mechanically minded, any chance you can describe what is needed to be done. Many thanks

You may want to get some assistance here. Purchase a belt from an appliance store and your help put it on. It is not hard and should not take more than 30 minutes. Take the old belt with you and the model number so it can be matched up.

We have a Zannusi zdc37100W tuble dryer, it wont stay on, we have cleaned filters emptied tanks etc. I suspect the sensor is broken or blocked. Error code 5 red 1 green is being displayed

Although I admit not having worked on this brand; the problem seems to be with the "snap disc" thermostat!
It is cylander shaped with 2 wings that have screw holes. Its silver side faces toward the heating coil when mounted with 2 machine screws. 2 wires are attached on the "black side" facing you.
These disc are for your protection.
They prevent the "heating coil" from raising the internal temperature of the dryer above 248 degrees F.
They re activate the coil when it cools to 80 degrees F.
It should be located above the top of the "heating coil housing".
1)Disconnect the power supply
2)Locate the Snap Disc
3)Remove the 2 "quick connect" wires from the flat electrical contacts on the Snap Disc.
4) Remove the 2 mounting screws (careful not to drop them inside the dryer)
5)Remove the old Snap Disc & Replace it wilt a new one.
6)Mount new Snap Disc with the 2 mount screws.
7)Connect the two wires with the quick connect fittings onto the flat electrical contacts.
8)Put all access covers, lids, clips or anything else you removed to gain access to the Snap disc back where they belong.
"Make sure that no bare electrical contacts com into contact with anything that you put back"
"Don't (pinch) a wire during this process!)
Note: You can order your part from a variety of places.
Have ready before calling: The Make, The Model # The Serial # (just in case they ask for it) of your dryer.
Have The old Snap Disc in your hand so you can give them the part #.
Most "Home Use" clothes Dryers that work on 220 volts use a
Snap Disc "Labeled": L248-80 F
Good Luck! Ihope this helps!

How do I fix belt on my hotpoint TVM570p dryer

To do the belt. + as long as your patience lasts...
1. UNPLUG the washer.
2. check you've unplugged.
3. Open the top of the machine - see the sides of the lid about 10 cm from front, remove plastic cap on each torx head, undo torx. (torx set required)
4. Remove concrete block from top - large spanner is required - remember the sequence so you can replace later.
5. Lean over the drum and see the large drive wheel. To pop the belt off, turn the wheel forcing the belt to the edge of the wheel. It will eventually come off.
6. to replace belt - see motor shaft at bottom of unit. Dangle belt round shaft of motor and gently pull so it does not come off.(This is not easy!)
7. At the same time Ease one side of the new belt back on to drive wheel on the back of the drum.
8. Turn Drive wheel until belt is on.(This is not easy and requires alot of hand strength)
9. Replace concrete block with bolt and spanner in reverse sequence you removed it.
10. replace lid, torx and cover for torx.

I've changed the belt on my indesit is60v but now it will not start could it be a loose wire? my test pen says power is going from the start button to the timer

Just because power is getting to the switch doesn't necessarily mean the switch isn't bad. It is also possible that the motor or timer is defective.

I believe the belt on my kenmore gas dryer broke. if i attempt to fix it myself is it easily accessible? Will i possibly hit into anything that might mess up the ignitor or gas hook up?

Hi peaches 1230...
All your connections to the gas is in the back of the machine, you will be working in the front of the machine...I am going to send you directions to replace your belt but it is for an electric dryer, but the instructions for repairing the gas dryer belt is the same as an electric dryer belt.
****************************************************************************************************************
ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid.
Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.
Move the door and front of machine forward to remove.
This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley.
Here is a link to see a picture of your belt routing in case the belt is broken when you open your dryer:
http://www.expertappliance.com/dryerbeltconfiguration.html

While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you remove and lubricate the drum rollers.
And also clean the shafts of the rollers as they will collect hair, dust, etc and cause problems and then lubricate the shafts and rollers with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting dry and making a squeeling noise, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise.
You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Maytag MDG2300BWW dryer drum stopped turning. We can feel the heat and the motor but the drum doesnt rotate. Is this the belt?

Yes it will probably be the belt that has snapped, afraid they can be quite a job to replace as you have to take the drum out of the appliance to get the new belt around the drum. Although it also could be your motor if this has failed it may make a nois but not have th power to turn the drum.

You can open the appliance up by using flat head screwdriver at either end of the lid pushing it into the gap between the frame and the lid and prising it upwards and the top will pop up and you will then be able to see if the belt has snapped

How do you open the dryer to fix the belt

First before you you raise the top, open the cover on the back by the motor and let the belt loose from the motor pulley unless the belt has broken. If it has go to the lid. Slide a thin flat blade under the front of the lid and feel for the two clips several inches in from the corners. Push straight in on a clip while pulling up on the lid at the front edge and it will release the lid at that point. Do the other clip. Lift the lid. Three are usually two screws, one on each side holding the front tight. With the screws removed, pry out by each of the push clips on the side. The front should be come loose. Swing it away slightly paying attention to the wires to the door switch. Slide the new belt over the drum and work it to where it ran in the past. Put the front back on and snap the lid down. When putting the front on guide the front panel and the drum together at the felt seal. Open the panel on the back near the motor. Reach in and spring the belt tightener over and put the belt around the motor pulley. Let the spring tightener tighten the belt. Put the cover back on.
