I bought a brand new DS lite online, it functions perfectly when switched on, but when I insert a game card it immediately switches itself off. if I insert the game card before turning the DS on, then it...

I had just repaired two of these with the same problems, and ran into two different solutions! First solution is too check with a little flash light inside the game cartridge area where you insert the game for bent pins that may contact each other when the game is inserted, the solution is to take apart and repair the bent pins by straightening them out, or buy a new cartridge holder from ebay to solder on the board. This fixes no read and shut down of ds, and is a permanent fix, until someone jams a cartridge back in and bends the pins again.

The other fix, is to buy a new motherboard I found that one had a circuit malfunction which caused this issue.

Most likely and a lot of times it is in fact bent pins causing this because when inserting the game into the cartridge area over and over with force or putting it in backwards and forcing it by someone that doesn't know any better will create the problem and that leaves you two options I stated above: If you can fix the bent pins you might have success, if you can solder, you can replace the game cartridge on the motherboard, and or replace motherboard if that failed. If you don't do none of these you have the option to get it repaired, sell it back on eBay.
The pins are fragile and can be bent in ways not repairable in that case you would safe time and effort to buy a game cartridge on line, cheap few bucks, and solder it onto motherboard to fix your issue.
Just look for game cartridge slot reader for your type of ds on eBay! Good Luck!

My ds slot does not show up on my choose games even though i put the games in it says 'no ds card inserted" please help me i have my ds but only the gba slot works

There is probably one or more bent pins inside the top slot (SLOT 1). Remove the battery by removing the battery cover on the bottom (held ny a screw). Shine a small torch into SLOT 1 and look inside to see if any of the pins are bent differently to the rest of the pins. If any pins are bent they can be bent back to their correct positions by using a suitable small tool such as a precision screwdriver. If a pin is actually broken then the complete slot will need to be replaced.
If it is not a bent or broken pin, there may be some other type of blockage inside SLOT 1.
If there is nothing wrong with the pins and there is no blockage inside the slot, then there may be a dry joint where the slot is soldered to the PCB inside the DS. This kind of fault will require the DS to be opened with a special tri-wing screwdriver and the use of a multimeter to check all the connections. If you have soldering experience (and tools) then you can try re-soldering the connections.

Be advised that opening the DS is much easier than putting it back together again!

Bent prong in the slot where we put a ds game

SOD69 is right.
Contact Nintendo,
This problem happened with me too.
Let me tell you what they are gonna do:

They are going to tell you to fill out a page of your adress, put in your box and mail it to the post office, and then they will mail it to the Nintendo Office. With your DS and the form in the box.
(Please make sure you have the game out, slot 2 gamepak and stylus out. It may get lost.) They will mail it back in 3 weeks.
A sewing needle might push the prong down in system. and damage it,so don't do any harm to the DS or else Nintendo will cost you. Its basically free.

My ds lite wont read my ds games

Check the game slot, under a light have a look inside to see if there are any bent or broken pins, if there are any the game slot will need to be replaced, you can take it back to where you bought and ask them about getting it repaired or contact nintendo direct for repairs.

If everything looks ok give the socket a blow inside and hold the ds with cover facing away from you and press down slightly at the top of the game socket, i know this is not a technical repair but i have done it a number of times and it has'nt failed.

Ninetendo ds games freeze up. Some do not work. The ds is only 6 months old. A freind told my child to lick the game to make it work which did help. I feel this is bad. If we need to replace the slot. how...

Licking the games is not really the best idea, u can do a google search for ds spare parts or of ebay you'll get hold of one but it does reqire a bit of soldering, which if your not to keen on that there is another trick you could try.. open up the ds, just the back cover where the battery goes, the game slot1 is at the top with a silver protective cover, look down the slot for any broken or bent pins. If everything looks fine gently press the bottem corners and middle with a screw driver or twizers until u have a very small dent, this compacks the game cartridge just enough for it to read it properly.

Nintendo ds keeps not reading games. Clean with alochol but have to keep recleaing for it to work. Is there some sort of eletctrical lubricant/cleaner that works for a permanent fix?

The main reason for it not reading games will be that one of the pins that connect with game card when inserted will be bent! The console needs to be opened and all four points around the game port will need to be desoldered and the top half lifted off and the pins bent back into place! and put back together again!

Nintendo ds lite won't read card

had this problem, i looked into where the game goes and one of the little metal teeth was bent, so i took a long toothpick and gently pushed it back over now it works fine. Be careful that you dont break it off though.
