You need to purchase a new remote, they are about $30 on the internet. To reprogram it, refer to the owners manualhttp://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/owners...

Reprogramming remote start

If it doesn't program, it is probably lived it's life. If it's been in there since 09. When I get cars with after market remotes/security. And they are having problems. The first thing I take out is the remote systems. So for this has fixed every car. Good ones last about 7 years, cheap ones will get you maybe 2 years.

Can I use a 4button keyless remote to replace a 3 button keyless remote

Hi,
Is the 3-button remote from Mazda too? If it is and it's from the same year range as your MPV it may work. In other words, many car makers used the same type of keyless remotes on all their vehicles in a given year range. But if the 3-button is much newer or older you're probably out of luck. You can search on Ebay to see what types of remotes were sold for your year car.

If this is NOT a Mazda remote and neither was the 4 button they may use a different frequency (think 'radio station') and won't 'talk' to the car's keyless remote compuer.

Keyless Remote Won't Work - But Car Starts

The remote receiver unit is located in the rear view mirror. This may be faulty. Since the car is new (less than a year?) you still may have the factory warranty.

Try removing the battery and using a pencil eraser, scrub the contacts holding the battery in place.

Keyless remote controls stop working all of the sudden.

you can re program the re motes yourself but it is a long program to type see if your local pepboys or autozone has a copy of autodata key programming and service indicators it lists your remotes and tells you how to reset the codes and programming in the remote. If you cant find it let me know a fax number and i can shoot you a copy out of my book
