That "sort of" works for me.  I saw approximately 30 files in Windows Explorer and was able to delete them using the proccess described.   But I still have 26 files on the Sansa m240 that are not seen when I use Windows Explorer to view the device.

There were several other suggestions on this site that required me to go into various views of the computer and select "media".  I was able to do that but, even then, the Windows Explorer (and other) views showed no files on the m240 -- but the m240 still showed them on the display and was able to play them.

I have the same problem. There are files that are stored on the mp3 that are not visible using Rhapsody, Windows Media, or going through My Computer. They are stored on the mp3, but are simply not in the files that are listed. Mine are in the "songs" section rather than in the artist file and so don't show up.

Use my computer. Bring up the mp3 player, go to the song list then left click on songs, (or highlight group) right click and delete.

Deleting Files,Pictures,etc from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

In the player go to Settings->USB and set MSC. Now connect it to your computer and you'll be able to find the songs in the removable drive.

Deleting unwanted songs

The Sansa M200 series devices do not allow deletion of downloaded content directly from the device. You must connect he device to PC/Mac via USB to delete downloaded content. You will also need to use media software such as Windows Media Player, Rhapsody, iTunes, etc.. to see all of the music content on the player to be able to delete the songs you don't want. (i.e. just viewing the device in Windows Explorer might not show everything that is on he player.)

Deleting Songs Using Windows Media Player
Use Windows Media Player to view the songs that are stored on your mp3 player - best to view them in the "Sync" tab. Find the song that you want to delete, right-click the song, and select Delete (or left-click and press Delete on your keyboard). Voila!

After deleting all media (songs) I have as before one song, that I couldn't delete

Formatting results in all songs being lost, including the one you don't want.

To format the player directly, follow these steps:
1. Press the Home button to return to the Main Menu.
2. Select Settings from the Main Menu.
3. Select System Settings.
4. Scroll down to Format and select it.
5. Select Yes to start formatting.

Deleting Songs

I don't believe you can delete songs from the m240 itself; you need to plug it into a computer.
I use Windows Media Player (v11). When I plug my m240 into the computer and select the "Sync" tab in WMP, the m240 is shown in the tree view in the left-hand panel, and I can then select it to list the songs. In this list, I then select the ones I want to delete, and press the "Delete" key, or right-click and select "Delete".
