My kenmore 665.13719k601 fills with water when I turn it on, but then just makes a humming sound, not moving the arms around. It drains fine when I hit cancel. I presume that means the motor is broken down inside? I've taken apart everything I can down to the food mincer, but I can't get past that. How would I proceed here?

SOURCE: Dishwasher fill with water then just hums

the hum is probably the main pump powered up but not turning. the pump is an induction motor and a usual fault is the motor capacitor. try to access it, find the value of the capacitor and replace. it is a cheap part

SOURCE: Dishwasher fills w/ water, does not wash, but does drain.

Joel, it's hard to tell whats going on here without the full model number. The number you posted should start with a 665, 363,587 or 464.  Here is a couple of things to look for.  It sounds like you have a seperate drain pump. Remove the bottom toe panel and hopefully there will be a tech sheet behind it.  Check the harness to the motor itself.  You want to verify that there is 120V going to it when the wash motor should be running. If you hear the motor humming and kicking out on the overload, then we can assume you have something stuck in the impeller or the motor is bad itself. The tech sheet will give you a diagram for the hot and nuetral.  Check the float switch inside the tub, it should move freely up and down. This is a safety device to insure the dishwasher does not overfill.  If this is a 665,  there will be a start capacitor on the left side of the wash motor.  If one of the wires came off the cap,  the motor won't run.  Regarding the door switches,  if you have 120V going to the motor during the wash cycle, you can assume the door switches are o.k.   Hope this gets you started in the right direction...Catriver.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore dishwasher that will not pump

Look inside of the dishwasher to be sure that the tubes leading to the spray arms are not disconnected. If those tubes are in place, then the problem is with the main motor/pump in the base of the unit. That Kenmore part is about $150.00 plus labor. That being said, it may be time to consider a new dishwasher UNLESS your dishwasher is less than five years old because there is a five year warranty on the motor/pump. If it is under warranty, call sears repair and they should repair it at no cost to you.

Water not pumping out spray arms.

clog in the arm. It should spin due to water flow.

Remove the arm. Usually a tow part arm (top and bottom). Or a central screw with cover plate.

Look for a clog and remove.

If a central arm in the middle of the machine the clog can be in the pipe supplying the water. Again take apart and look for a clog.

They are not belt or gear driven. Simple water driven parts only. If the water is flowing and not leaking under the machine you should be OK with a simple clog somewhere.

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!
