Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: Camera freezes after taking picture

I had same problem as well with my Fuji Finepix S1000fd camera. I solved it by changing my SD memory card. Always use a Premier brand memory card.

SOURCE: Problem loading pictures from Fuji s1000 to PC.

Same problem with a Fufi Finepix Z5fd. I disabled the first of the 2 Enhanced USB controllers, and the camera is now seen by XP and appears in Windows Explorer. I did the same with my other PC, but this has only one Enhanced USB controller. It's now working at Full speed, but this isn't a problem.
A better solution might be to connect the camera to a full speed hub, if you can find one.

SOURCE: fuji finepix s1000 zoom error lens is stuck out what can I do???

If you recently dropped the camera, you may have damaged the lens housing -- that will require professional repair. Otherwise, your problem may be as simple as low batteries or corrosion on the battery terminals inside the camera. Make sure that the batteries are fresh/fully charged. If the problem persists, remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and replace them in the camera. This cleaning works about 90% of the time, and I hope it clears up your problem.

Trying to download pictures onto my Mac using iPhoto. The Finepix S1000 is plugged into my comp, and it reads Communication error on the camera

Having gone over two months without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

Camera freezes after taking picture

I had this problem with my s1000 Fujifilm, but solved it by changing the standard SD card for a SDHC class 4 card. It no longer freezes when a flash is used! I've tried a 4Gb and a 16 GB SDHC class 4 card and both are fine.
