Question about Compaq Evo N620c Notebook

XP Pro Ethernet Controller down - Device Manager refuses to see Lan folder.

Hi, Tom, thanks for the advice, just found your site.  Problem: Compaq Evo N620c Notebook ... upgraded W2000 to XP Pro, didn't have a choice.  Downloaded driver at link you provided to Moon*, created folder on laptop, pointed Dev Mgr to folder, DV didn't see it. Uninstalled Ethernet Contr., rebooted, pointed Device Mgr to folder again, still refuses to see it.  Help! Thanks in advance. Great site.

When you copy the driver to the computer , put it on the desktop. Sometimes folders are hidden by default.
Also,

Make sure that it enabled in the BIOS...

SOURCE: cannot locate ram on compaq EVO N620c

The RAM is located under a panel on the LHS of the touchpad.
You need a thin blade/knife to slip under this panel to lift it up and out. It is clipped in with plastic catches on the panel.

My device manager always show missing drivers ethernet controller and base system device,i can not reach it

Hi!
To fix this, you have to download and install the Chipset and Ethernet Drivers, which can be downloaded from the following link from HP Official Support: -
Compaq nc8000 Drivers
Visit the above link. Click the Network Drivers link and download the drivers for ethernet (LAN) according to the LAN you have on your laptop. (you may try other Broadcom or Intel LAN Drivers)
Also, from Operating System enhancement section you can get the chipset drivers

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Can i get a ethernet controller drive for my laptop now to download?

Most definately. You can get if from download.com or microsoft, or manufacture, or many other sites. Download it, double-click on file to open and install the drivers.

Or go to control panel, go to performance and maintenance and device manager. From here you can also update the drivers.

Evo n620c - Ethernet Controller down - Device Manager refuses to see Lan folder.

Uninstall/reinstall and do your updates for this device from Device Manager and let the update wizard find the solution for you.it will ask you if you have the disk, click yes and donot insert any disk, the wizard will reply with can not find and give you a option to chose where to search, select c drive and click ok.then wait,if the original install was done correctly the drivers will be in the somewhere and the wizard will find them,
Reboot after updaqtes to save new device settings properly.

if still no resolve then reinstall system, don't forget to save a back-up first and then format.

Wireless card not functioning/disabled after loading XP in a Compaq Presario C700T CTO Notebook PC

The wireless is not going to turn on and off via the switch properly until we get the drivers loaded to make it work. There are 3 possible types of wireless card it could be, so we have to find out the exact model number of your system. On the bottom there should be a label that has a P/N or part number listed. what are those numbers. Here's an example of the label:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00033108&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3632144&dlc=en

or

http://tinyurl.com/35dt4h

we need the info listed for #1, #2 and #3. Then we should be able to determine which adapter you have, and then we can (hopefully) find some Windows XP drivers for you.
