Yea- its really simple with the Maximus Formula's (well.. I have a Maximus II Formula....)

Under the BIOS, you should have a tab called "extreme tweaker" or something similar. Go under that and there should be a nice CPU level up option. For example, mine has 3 options: (i have an E8400)
1.) Auto
2.) E8500
3.) Crazy

Another solution is to get the ASUS utility called CPU Level Up. It installs under windows, and lets you switch your CPU settings easily. Although this may be a Republic of Gamers specific utility.. not sure.

What motherboard is in asus k50i-rbbgr05 and whats the best cpu upgrade for it if any currently Pentium duo core t4400

Hello here is the asus home page:

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K50IJ/#support_Download

Try to contact the asus support before upgrading the cpu.
Your laptop will probably not support a bigger cpu, because there is a limit here.
The cpu from another model will probably fit the socket, but the pc will not boot at all.
This depends on how the mainboard is build, cache size and so on.
Its also very expensive to buy a cpu for a laptop.
This can easy cost the same as a new laptop.
The mainboard is build by asus or intel.

It would be easyer to by a laptop with a bigger cpu.
They do exist as quad core.

Good luck

Hello, i got maximus formula motherboard. CPU : LGA775 socket for Intel Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Quad / Core 2 Duo / Pentium extreme / Pentium D / Pentium 4 Processors Chipset : Intel X38/ICH9R FSB...

This is your board by the numbers you supplied:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131199
You have Via P4M900 and VT8237 chipsets and Realtek ALC662(sound)
This is Asus's link for your board:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5VD2VM_SE/#download
It's supported to Windows Vista so, it may or may not work with Windows 7.
You can try your sound here, if necessary:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
and, this is Via's link:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp
It appears your board has the support for Windows 7, if that is what you are running so these should be all you need. Let me know if I can help you further.

if the computer powers on w/o video , it could be heat issue with the CPU, --turn off the computer, remove battery and rear case - remove the heatsink fan and apply new thermal paste on the CPU- then put heatsink fan back , battery -- and turn on computer --if the issue persists, its bad onboard video card

My MB (maximus II formula) dosn't boot at all

Hi Sounds like the motherboard has fried

However i would recommend the following

1) Take out the 3 pin lead at the back of your PC/MB (the one that looks like a kettle lead)

2) Hold in the Power button on the Motherboard for 20 seconds........you will see a small burst of power

3) Retry...if this fails you will need to take it in for repair

I want to buy the maximus II fdormula by asus my question is can i use the cpu cooler of the gigabytes 775?

The gigabyte CPU cooler is for socket 775 so it shouldn't be an issue with the Asus Maximus II formula motherboard that has a LGA 775 socket.

What CPU cooling level you need depends on what CPU you intend to use and what you will be doing with your machine. You'll also want to monitor it after installation to make sure your fan is working properly and within your needs.

No Output to monitor, no beeps, fans all OK

Hi karanda,
The green led on the board shows green letting you know there is power to the borad.
Does your GFX card have dual outputs? Try plugging into the other output.
If your monitor light goes from green to amber than your PCI-E is not putting out signal. Pull & re-seat video card.
Did you check Asus to see if your CPU is supported & check what bios version you may need to run CPU?
Chcek here: Check what your M2M-E supports.
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Your board only supports these two CPU's
Phenom 9500 (HD9500WCJ4BGD),2.2GHz,95W,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core
&
Phenom 9600 (HD9600WCJ4BGD),2.3GHz,95W,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core

You need Bios version 0802 in order to run the above CPU's.

Good Luck & kind regards!

Supreme FX II Won't work Ok, let's start from the top- Bought an ASUS Maximus II Formula mobo off of NewEgg. Open box version, since I'm an idiot. That was my first mistake obviously. So, naturally, it doesn't come with ANY of the parts it's supposed to- LCD Poster, Supreme X-FI II, nothing. yay. Anyways, I finally tracked down a sound card (the X-Fi that was actually supposed to come with the motherboard). Installed it- nothing. Didn't show up in device manager, nothing at all. So, I swapped PCI-E slots, and still nothing. (PCI-E x1). So here I am, mad that I bought a sound card from some guy that didn't work. Well, I happened to come across another one, same exact card. So I tried it, all happy and everything, as I KNEW this one worked. NOTHING. Updated the BIOS- nothing. Changed a few settings, such as turning off PnP OS, tried a couple other small things- nothing.,... I'm beginning to think that the mobo has bad PCI-E x1 slots- all other slots work though. Is there any other way they could possibly be disabled by something? Please give some ideas to try, including the simple ones- I'd like to try to solve, as the mobo did cost a good bit. System Specs: Vista Ultimate, XP Pro, 7 RC (tri-boot) (card does not show up in ANY OS) - All have updates. 4Gb DDR2 1066 (OCZ) Intel 3.0 Ghz E8400 CPU Nvidia 9500 GT 1Tb total drive space. Currently having to use a POS Soundblaster Audigy (original) To be honest, I could care less about the X-FI. I just want my FP audio to work. But the mobo has no headers- the FPAUD header is on the sound card. But, the X-FI would be a nice upgrade.... Please help- I can't afford a new mobo right now. Like I said, even give me simple solutions- sometimes we just skip the easy stuff without realizing it lol And you don't have to use laymans terms with me- I repair PC's for a living lol. Update- Tried placing sound card in x16 slot- lit up (which it did before), but still not showing up in device manager. Tried placing it in same slot my video card was in (since I know that slot works) - nothing. So, now we know its not a faulty slot. Tried disabling PCIE Spread Spectrum, CPU Spread Spectrum. Nothing. Tried both cards in all 4 PCI E slots - nothing still... Also removed Audigy while doing this. So- we know the card works, as I saw it work earlier on a different PC. We know the slots on the mobo are fine. I've tried everything in the BIOS I could think of. When I try to install the drivers- says no supported device found. Update- Took both cards up to work. Plugged into one of our shop machines- still nothing. HOWEVER. The second card that I had come across, was out of a customers machine- and of course, it works in his with no problem. So I know the card is good. Yet, it won't install on ANY other machine.
