I just bought a Tiger MP S2460 for $219 plus taxes at Fry's in San Diego.
I also bought two Athlon 1400 boxed retail for $174 each (I know, there's cheaper places, but I was in a hurry). Plus I bought two sticks of Corsair 256MB reg ECC memory. Plus I bought a Leadtek Geforce 3 TDH and a 60GB IBM DeskStar 60GXP. :-)
Unfortunately only one of the memory sticks was registered, so it doesn't work, I'll replace it tomorrw.
/Daniel

Marek...
The price of the board _is_ extremely high if it's the Tiger S2460 you're describing. If it's the Thunder then maybe that price isn't too bad. Most online vendors are offering the Tiger at between $209 and $239.
As far as memory goes, I learned several years ago that specs alone don't always make things work. When you're building a dependable system, it pays to use quality components. I stick with IBM HDDs, Matrox video cards, and high-power Enermax or Antec power supplies. In this case, it seems like to ensure a solid system, I went with the Corsair registered ECC stick. Others _may_ work, but to start this system when I assemble it, I wanted memory that is known to work with this motherboard/cpu combo. Perhaps in a month or two, I'll add another 512mb stick of another, less expensive brand, but only after I find out that it has worked in other similar setups.

"Brian Robinson" <Brian.Robin @amazoninternational.com> dijo a todos por la internet:
I was at Fry's in Wilsonville, OR on Friday and they had the 2460 in stock for $499.99.
They also had PC2100 ECC RAM at $64.95 per 256 MB stick, and the Athlon SMP 1.2 GHz CPUs for $199 each. I am wondering what people here think of these prices. I don't like to buy mail order if possible.
Also, the board on display did not have SCSI but there were places for dual Ultra-160 SCSI pins on the edge of the board, with no connector soldered to them. I;m not sure I want it, but is dual SCSI-160 an option on this board?

Ouch thats pricey even with the current Xchange rates of 1.46
Just watch what type of memory is used. Approved will not be an issue, unknown can cause all sorts of issues. CPU prices make up for the cost of the board.
If above the IDE channels then this is the point for the raid port once it comes online.

Actually this is the case the boards are very hot indeed. We had to shift the pre-order's that did not come forward after a few days due to the demand. But the supply of boards are coming in and out okay from Dist though it is a case of straight in the door and back out again.

I ordered mine yesterday afternoon from ZZQ, and did the bundle deal... got the Tiger, two 1.2 MPs, and a single 512mb Corsair Reg/ECC stick just to be sure.
I was a little dissapointed that I received confirmation of the order within minutes, but in less than 24 hours I got an email from them telling me of a shortage of Tiger boards??? I emailed them back and I think they will try to get me the stuff as quickly as possible.
Hard to believe that this board has become so hot the dealer is sold out in under 24 hours, but maybe he has a good distributor. Tyan... if you are lurking... get these boards out!!!
I have a TigerMP, twin 1,2GHz Palaminios, 4 sticks of crucial DDR REG ECC (256MB each) and a Matrox G550 up and running since last week - everything is fine no startup problems, nothing unexpected happened since.
..maybe a Geforce3 problem???

Hi
Have had similar problem using Tyan TigerMP, twin 1.2GHz palaminios, 1 - 4 sticks of crucial DDR REG ECC (256mb per stick) & elsa gladiac 920 (geforce 3).
Board powers up but will not post, display video or switch off.
The memory shouldn't be a problem - I have seen other reports of people using Crucial RAM in their TigerMP boards with some success.
If anyone has a solution, please email me on sff @hotmail.com.
Thanks,
sffubs

The Infineon 512 MByte are NOT on the tyan compatibility list! Maybe they don??t work with the tiger MP! Check: http://www.tyan.com/support/ht ml/pc2100_tg_mp.html There are other posts reporting problems about mem sticks making problems that are not on the list.
Hint: Remove one mem stick and try it only with 512 MB.

tried before, didn't work.
but now i managed to get it work: i tried another memstick (nanya 256mb pc2100, no ecc, not reg.), and the board started beeping, like expected. but when i put back my two 512mb-modules, the board booted up as if it had never done anything else :-/
build up a pc, and you'll learn things of which you though that could never be ;-)
so, as for now, i can say that even if the infineon mem sticks are not on tyans compatibility list, they are working fine.
but i still wonder what the board's problem has been...
anyway, thanks & n8 x13y7
